Team of the tournament for the U21 World Cup and led the tourney in assists. I could easily see Poch watching him stampeding down the right and thinking he's got the makings of an excellent wing back.

if he is really available for sub 5mill then why not, if he doesn't work out you could sell him to a lower PL team for double that the way the market is atm.

We need cover not only for Trippier but for Davies while Rose is out.. Toljan can play both sides, so £3.1mio would surelybe a good decision bearing in mind we lost 15mio on Soldado and probably gonna do the same on Sissoko. Surely worth the gamble, he can't be that bad if he has played 19 games for Germany U21.

I saw him play for the under 21s and immediately texted my son to say that I thought he was the outstanding player in the German side.
Im no scout or guru but he did look a very talented player to me. I also texted him to say I thought that the English under 21s were a poor bunch.

You've seen him a lot for Hoffenheim have you? Care to add his strengths and weaknesses? Is he dual footed?
Going through his matches now don't want to make a full judgment of him yet but once I watched one
Or two More I'll write up Pros cons

I think it's a bit daft to be clamouring for a player like Perreira over Toljan when none of us have really seen a great deal of either of them play. Perreira may have played more games for Nice last season but if he's going to cost 22m and Toljan can be had for a quarter of that cost then I can see why we would go for the latter.

I watched Toljan for Germany under 21's and he stood out. He was constant threat down the right side and showed good crossing ability.

Hopefully he'll prove to be a good addition.

Toljan is a very good player and someone who has a lot of potential. I don't get the hate?

I think people are just worried that we're taking the cheap option, rather than the best option.

I've not seen enough of him or Pereira to make a judgement, but I do wonder why Hoffenheim are willing to accept such a low fee (if indeed they are).

Dunno, it had quotes from the Hoffenheim director.

Yes, it had. But They are just doing 1+1=2

There was this Record report. They just referred it & also said - 'oh see, Hoffenheim director also said this couple of weeks back'...
Am not saying there is no interest. There is interest but Bild for now are not reporting with conviction.

I guess he is one of the targets & asked for him - whether he will be the RB we will go for is to be seen

Have to question our scouting after this, perriera at a low cost compared to this guy it's like
Choosing Bertrand over Kyle naughton and to be fair I like Kyle
Naughton but this is a weak decision very disappointing if true

Pereira is this year's Schneiderlin, to Toljan as Stambouli?? Not seen enough of either personally, but I don't imagine you get into the German U21 team by fluke. What's his main strength, I've seen Pereira possesses real dynamism, similar to that which Walker and Rose bring to our play. Does Toljan offer the same athleticism, or is he more Trippier/Davies?

Is this happening then?

His biggest strength seem to be going forward and using his right foot to get balls into the box. He might be able to play on the left, but to judge him in a negative manner from those games isnt very wise. From what I saw this summer I reckon this is the only time we'll be able to sign him, cause if he's left alone for a year Bayern will go for him.

At 3.1 this will be the bargain of the window.

If you change Pereira to Ligue 1 and go for the per 90 metrics Pereira comes out on top on the vast majority of categories, although Toljan does have a higher 'defence score' which I'm not totally sure how they arrive at.

Personally I prefer Pereira as an option as he has outstanding pace and good attacking instincts which would dovetail nicely with Tripps as our RB options, and will come in handy at Wembley. Seems we have hit the Moutinho road block on that one though.

Toljan however is not a Stambouli as has been mentioned. He is a very good prospect and a quality technical footballer, and was one of the players I thought we should go for at the U21s. He is a (potentially) cheap option but then Alderweireld and Vertonghen were cheaper than Mustafi and Mangala and look how they turned out...
