I know.... but he sign a contract and he got to fulfill it unless we want to sell him.

We should not be dealing with any title rival club unless it is a deal that benefit us other than monetary eg. Iheanacho

Someone has rated this funny - and I know that if we are talking about straight swap deals they barely ever happen. So I'm not calling whoever it was out. But it did catch my attention because I saw an article mid-week purporting to be from Iheanacho's agent, claiming that whenever he sees him linked with Tottenham he has to shut the rumour down as Citeh have made it clear that they will not sell to direct rivals.

Oh, really? You want to tap our players up and pimp us for them but you won't sell any players to us because we are direct rivals...

They then are using it as a way of asserting that they are superior to us. It is the same thing, IMHO, that United did with the Berbatov theft deal! The whole thing was about getting a great player, but it was also about showing how they were completely in control the second we started getting a good team together and won something (yeah, I know, Wandery Ramos was a broken reed we shouldn't have been leaning on, etc.). They deliberately tossed a low offer in at the start of the summer and left him to agitate his way out of the club - it show how completely we couldn't manage the situation. They hijacked him when we gave him permission to talk to Citeh - accompanied by whooping celebrations - showing they could ignore our wishes altogether. They resisted our attempt to have Frazier Campb*ll thrown in as part of the deal...eventually relenting enough to allow us to loan him for a season -again, showing they could dictate terms, prevent us from getting (LoL) anything face-saving in return. Hell, they even blatantly tapped him up and then ridiculed Levy publicly when the FA (unsurprisingly...the feeble, weak fecks) refused to punish them. It was more complex than just buying a player...and Mr Levy was rightly raging about it.

Now, by the same token, one thing we cannot do is allow Citeh to make it publicly clear that they can buy our players but they won't sell anyone to us. They have more money than us...but we have arrived now. We have the team, we have the manager, we have the youth set-up, we have the training centre, we almost have the stadium. We are they direct rivals. We really can't afford to just let the publicly deliver such a clear assertion of dominance.

*That is, if it was his agent and there is any truth in it.

We should add £10m to the price for selling him to a title rival.

And some.

On top of the reasons given by @rocklink I would add this surcharge for any likely title rivals. On top of which, in light of the above about Iheanacho, I would make a public statement that any club who want to buy players from us but refuse point blank to even consider selling to us, because we are rivals, will have to pay an arbitrary and imposing penalty - say of £25 million! That way, even if a player, in this case Walker, has personal reasons for leaving and they are the only feasible destination, no club, and I mean none, is going to get to cheaply assert authority over us.

The £40 million is clearly just what Citeh have been telling their friends in the media to put out there to pressure us. For a player going into his peak years, on a long contract, and recognised as the best, or one of the best, players in his position in the league (if not Europe), I would make it clear that in this inflated market I expect at least as much as they paid for Stones. I would then slap a £10 million surcharge on that for out direct rivals. Then, if the above is true about Citeh refusing to sell to us, I would slap a further £25 million on (for that and any subsequent deal for any team who refuses to sell to us). Let's see if they are that keen on him...and let's see if they are still keen on refusing to sell us players while thinking they can happily tap up and buy our own!

Agreed . City's opening offer will be 40 maybe...Dunno if City have experience of dealing with Levy ,possibly not .They could be in for a shock . Its got to be around 50 or over imo .
It was they who first had a bid accepted for Berbatov. Ferguson abducted him at Manchester airport when he was on his way to talk to City. That may have been before they were Abu Dhabi FC though.

With today's inflated prices and if City is really desperate to get him, then I'd go as flws -

Base fee - £20m
Best RB in the EPL - +£20m
Home grown/trained - +£10m
Title rival - +£10m
Moneybags buyer - +£10m
Peak Age - +£10m

Total - £80m

City won't pay the full amount so we should let him go at a min of £50~60m

Replying in my posting style, you wouldn't dare! Anyone, and I mean anyone, who attempted to imitate my posting style would be exposed as a fraud...within the first 200 pages :woot::woot::woot:

I've done many things that have singled me out as a naughty type...but never ITK bashing (conversely, I'm far too much of a sook).

I have no more idea who gave the funny rating that you do...but if you wanna do the investigative work, be my guest. And I agree, as I said, swapsies are for the meeja fantasy writers (y)

Think we would be stupid to strengthen City, imagine how it would feel if they pipped us to the title next season with Walker in their team. They can keep their money as far as I'm concerned, he is a rare commodity, a full back with pace that knows the EPL inside out, I will be so annoyed if he goes to City helping complete Pep's jigsaw! They have the attacking talent why give them the best right back in the league!
If he's desperate to leave do not sell him to a rival - could you imagine Bale at UTD or Modric at Chelski.
If you think about it you might wonder what difference it would make, if Modric had gone to Chelsea they might have beaten us to the title this year.

This is where THFC's solicitors would be well advised to consult SC on the drafting of contracts, including clauses containing sell-on provisions.

The Football Leaks thing showed that we inserted a first refusal clause and many others as part of the Bale transfer.
Would imagine that's pretty standard fare though.

55m for me.

Plus future add ons if he ends up helping them win something
Agree - £45m for a full back at his level seems fair as they are never going to fetch as much as a midfielder/striker who can bag 20+ goals a season.
Add on the Levy Added Tax (LAT) that everyone knows by now that they will need to pay or face a protracted negotiation process that will make them lose the will to live (say £10m) and we get to our £55m.

Tend to agree it will suit both parties. Us as we won't want to look flushed with cash, and City because they won't want everyone know how much they have been Levy'd.
