I'm 50, this football team hasn't had a better mentality since I've been watching them. If Burkinshaw's team had this mentality it would have done the fucking double 3 years running, because it played the best football.

We've just set a record for consecutive league wins, we've not lost a game for about 3 months, we ended Chelsea's quest for a record in January, and people are questioning this teams mentality?

We didn't choke today, we were beaten by the team at the top of the league. We played damn well, but we made some mistakes, we didn't get some breaks, they did, it was just what happens in football, last week Chelsea pretty much came unstuck the same way to another big team.

Analyse stuff, call it out, but it least call it vaguely right. On talent this team wouldn't necessarily be 2nd in this league, it's fucking mentality that's help get it there. It's the one facet of us right now I have no worries about at all.

People comparing sub options aren't taking into account the fact that Chelsea had no injuries to attacking players. Compare attacking squad options and there isn't much in it.

Strikers - Kane & Janssen vs Costa & Batshuayi.

AMs - Eriksen, Alli, Son & Lamela vs Hazard, Pedro, Willian.

CMs - Dembele, Wanyama & Winks vs Cesc, Kante & Matic.

They have more depth at CM but we have more depth at AM but they have a skillful difference maker in Hazard and they have experience. Hazard is their youngest AM at 26 whilst Eriksen is out eldest at 25.

Exactly- great description of what happened today. When I started ranting at the telly when Hazard scored it wasn't because we'd bottled it, it was simply because they took their chances on the day. That's football, especially when two fairly evenly matched sides are both playing well. I went to a few broadsheet forums after the game because I knew there'd be some seriously daft fuckwittery on here and most neutrals thought we played well in a tense and entertaining game. I've been supporting this club for decades and this is probably the best team I've seen. I'm totally deflated by the result but I'm still proud of the team in what looks like another good season

We'll get there.

Zaha and another quality centre half ( with pace and power hopefully )

Fuck it, offer Southampton big money for Van Dijk

If we bought Van Dijk it would most likely cost Dier his place and Dier is the player who enables us to change shape constantly throughout games. That has been instrumental in our success this season. I know Van Dijk is a better CB but I see Dier as one of Poch's main men on the pitch. I simply can't see it happening regardless of the fact that all of the top clubs in the EPL will most likely be chucking money at him.

Edit; Also our defence has been superb - we should spend our money on areas that need fixing or offering better contracts to our established players.

The squad does not need much in the summer in my opinion but the few tweaks it needs need to be players that are "next level" players. I would rather we paid the money and brought in two quality players than four lower level players hoping to develop (that is not to say that I don't think Poch is great at developing players).

I'd sell Sissoko because he is no loss, N'jie and GKN (although might give him another season) and try for someone like Lacazette to play in one position behind Kane / be more effective back up striker. I know he would be expensive. We could then move Jansen on and have Son as back up - I like him despite yesterday's brain fade.

I think a back up to Rose is also important, the difference between Rose and Davies is far bigger than Walker and Trippier in my view.

I also don't like the idea of selling Dier and replacing him with Keane or VVD. I prefer Keane to VVD but Dier gives us the flexibility to change systems mid game which the others don't.

One player we are lacking is the short low center of gravity player which can dribble through entire the opposition and still score. He would need to fit into Poch's transfer policy, have a relativly low wage and be happy with being a squad player. May be a bit optimistic but may I present...

Angel Correa.

Why would Dier have to be sold? Why would he even lose his place?
If we are to continue with the 3 centre halves then VVD would be a fantastic addition. Create real competition for places by accumulating 15/16 genuine first XI players.
We've fielded our first choice XI 2/3 times this season! Injuries, suspensions, rotation. Even with VVD on board, Dier would play a lot of football.

Although we are a fairly big side physically, we lack a physically imposing, aerially dominant player. VVD would add that ( along with being a top all round defender )

I would be happy with one centre back good enough to start in a back 3 and one pacey attacking midfielder good enough to start in a 4-2-3-1 or good enough to rotate with dele and Eriksen in a 3-4-2-1

Also a back up striker with Premier League experience

We need quality and experience and not quantity in the summer, as long as we keep the squad together.

We can bring in some youth (Keane would be awesome as he looks a player!) and Sessgnon but we really do need some experience this summer

Mentioned in a previous post, think we should go for Josh King. Been fantastic this season and can play up top, or out wide in a 4-2-3-1, would even be tempted to give him a go at wing-back, although I don't think that suits him. 25 years old, proven he can score in the PL, offers something different. Would be a wildcard signing, but I think him, Zaha and Sessegnon would inject some real pace and ability into our side! Would be great to have another King pull on a Spurs shirt...

In:
Zaha
Sessegnon
CB rotation (Maguire or something)
King

Out:
N'Jie
Fazio
Wimmer (Assuming he wants the move)
Sissoko
Onomah (Loan)

The Sun have us in for 19 year old Blackpool winger Bright Osayi-Samuel. Now i know its The Sun, but these rumours involving younger players seem to hold more truth for me. Could also just be a case of young football league player having good year going to be next Dele Alli etc.

Best position team wise we've ever been in. We don't need a single starting 11 player we just need a couple of options from bench. I'd keep Lamela. With him and Son that is two great options. Replace Sissoko and NKoudou with another attacking player who offers something different. Replace Wimmer with a quality CB and maybe buy a more suitable LB back up. Start Winks more often and promote Edwards.

That's 3 players bought who'd probably cost about £50m maximum. If did that our squad is set in stone and we will probably make a profit this summer. It's not a time to moan about us not spending, we really don't need to at all.

I've been thinking about the result and how this might reveal our weaknesses. The press are wetting themselves with the Conte tactical masterclass narrative but actually he just gambled and won. We came undone because we picked the best formation to play Chelsea but lacked a quality LWB. If Rose played yesterday our defence wouldn't have made so many uncharacteristic errors that they capitalised on and we probably would have won. It's in this area that we need investment. I think Conte's rationale was to prioritise the league by benching Hazard and Costa but have them ready for the second half if the game was in reach. If we'd been two goals up I really doubt he would have played Hazard at all but at 2-2 and with us lacking our usual composure at the back because of Son at LWB it made sense to bring on Hazard and unsettle as further. On a pitch the size of Wembley, and with game poised at 2-2, we should have brought on Son whose pace and directness would have allowed us the option to sit back and catch them on the counter which is what they did to us most the game. If we're going to play at Wembley next year, we need to think about investing in a quicker LWB to cover Rose and a player like Zaha, who along with Son, can give us pace when needed. It was fine margins yesterday but Chelsea profitted from uncharacteristic defensive errors when we didn't. Despite Matic's screamer, both our goals were sensational and just underline how much quality we have. We just need a little strategic fine tuning with our squad and we tilt the margins in our favour

Ive never seen him but a mate was working in blackpool recently and saw a game at bloomfield road, mentioned this guy a few times.

Did any of the Zaha fans watch him against Liverpool today ? Thought he was bang average against a non-existent Liverpool defence. Going to be interesting to see how he plays on Wednesday, no doubt he will do a Sissoko.
