With Edwards not included in any of the previous two first team squads when many thought he might be involved and not selected for the PL2 team as anyone heard anything about a recurrence of his recent injury, or is he perhaps lacking some fitness after his extended absence?

he's been in all the recent training pics, including yesterday's so definitely not injured. might be a fitness issue but i think it's more likely that he's just now in that dead zone between u23s and the 1st team as @Luka Van der Bale mentioned. i don't see what the harm would be for him to still play u23s as unlike kwp he's barely even played at that level but i guess poch values a training session with the seniors over a game for the kids.

Personally I don't see what negative impact training with the 1st team AND playing for U23s would have but I guess Poch must have his reasons.

Unless they overlap and/or would preclude full participation in one or the other platforms. Seems rather straight-forward.

Kyle Walker praising Kyle Walker Peters in the press today. Saying that he always performs well in first team training, constantly asking for advice and his contract extension is much deserved.

rb.

3-0 now, roles.

4-0 shashoua

Noticed the highlights of these matches have completely dried up. Anywhere to have a quick catch up? Also official website thinks we're still in the U21 set up...no youth based highlights since December.

What are people's thoughts about the U23 league? Listening to the Set Piece podcast and they were scathing, basically the matches are like an u18 training game. Would explain why Poch likes to get the more progressed players out of there fairly sharpish to avoid it causing bad habits/lack of intensity

Interesting. The intake gets larger an larger.

Had him down as my 16th. He was the only one I had question marks over, as after Poch jr was included he was the only one I thought my have to make way, so we didn't go over numbers, but now its been confirmed.

'll try and do the full list and a a little bit about each player later, as some might find it useful

Isn't our usual intake amount about 13?

Found this somewhat amusing:

'People used to say I relied on my pace to get out of sticky situations but it's like saying, "what if Cristiano Ronaldo didn't have fast feet?"' said Walker,

Hmmm....
I totally agree with Walker here. It's not like he would be as far advanced if he didn't have pace - he could be that advanced because he had the recovery pace.

And it's also part of his skill set that he's fully entitled to use.

When Bale went flying past people on the wing, no one rolled their eyes and said - he can only do that because he's got pace.

Or when Toby Aldeweireld heads a corner away, no one says - he can only do that because he isn't 5'3"
