So here's my dream (somewhat realistic) wishlist for the summer:

Demichelis - experienced CD (and even DM) cover for 1 year to replace Fazio whilst CCV gets up to speed. Argentinian as well which is a bonus.

Gueye - hear me out on this one, he was very highly rated when he joined Villa last summer, he will be happy to be part of a CL team versus a starter in a relegation team.

Lacazette - one of the most exciting attacking players in the world right now.

Batshuayi - excellent striker option for us to bring in.

I think this Coutinho type could be Yunnus Malli at Mainz, his name's coming up abit in the media and it seems abit too leftfield a link to not be something in it (abit like when we signed Wimmer). He's been scoring more this year and I also read something about him being high up on the chances created stats.

Have you watched Manchester City this season when Demichelis has played?

It would be impossible to get Lacazette and Batshuayi. Both for financial reasons and the fact that neither would be 3rd choice.

It's completely flawed to suggest that we'd even be bringing in "2nd" or "3rd choices" (unless it is a very young prospect). The kind of FW we'll be bringing in is the type that's well up for competing with Kane and would welcome the challenge, not the kind who seeks or desires or would be happy with being 2nd or 3rd choice. Do you really picture Poch sitting down with prospective forwards telling them that what we are looking for in that position is back up players? No, he'll be telling the prospects "do well, and who am I to say that you can't compete for the starting line up?". Additionally, if we find targets who are different enough from Kane, competing with Kane won't be the only option for the new signing to play. It will be more than enough to complement him playing from a wide left position.
So yeah, we should expect to talk to multiple players who would come because they fancy their chances in the starting line up for a CL team.

Got a better name for a CD to replace Fazio but who would be happy on the bench 95% of the time but also still reliable enough to come on and do a job and wouldn't cost a lot. (bonus if he is also a native of the same country as our manager)?
I'd much rather play an 18-year-old CCV than a 34-year-old who's utter shite and put in one of the worst CB performances you'll see against United. Who cares if he's Argentinan? Thankfully I think Poch has no interest in bringing in anyone who's near the age of Demichelis.

I can't see us buying another CB. Jan and Toby (for the majority) have have shown Poch wants to keep that spine the same throughout. I wouldn't be surprised if it was CCV and Wimmer as the second pairing.

OK. I also said it's not viable financially and if we are going to buy 2 'strikers', they're not both going to be top-quality. Also, you have to think from the perspective of the player. Let's say that we sign Lacazette and want to sign Batshuayi (won't happen). Do you really think Batshuayi's going to look at the situation with us having Kane and Lacazette and think it's desirable? He won't- and there will be plenty of clubs that would have him as first choice.

Come on, Demichelis can barely break into a jog these days let alone a sprint. I'd be more confident with 40something Poch coming out of retirement as player/manager...

I think looking at the squad we'll look for a young defensive midfield type player (who can also possibly play CB, on that subject I'm still not over losing Veljkovic without seeing what he could do) with Dier and the emerging CCV covering the centre back options.

I think we have a lot of financial wiggle room for the right players, so that doesn't really worry me. Although admittedly, both of Lacazette and Batshuayi is probably an extreme scenario, but not completely beyond the realm of possibility. This is a wish list, and as far as wishes go, signing both of them is a darn good wish.

Demichelis

Regardless of everything else he's currently under investigation for betting on matches that he was involved in, so I'd wager (pun intended) that he'll not be playing much football in the near future.

With A Champions League place and a push for the title next year, surely we should be trying to sign players that will improve the first team, not provide 3rd choice backups to sit on the bench?

I love our current starting 11, although a bit of pace is perhaps missing at times, but I wouldn't have a problem dropping 1 or 2 of them dropping o the bench if someone better became available. That would then, hopefully, spur that guy on to improve his game and get back into the starting 11.

Demichelis, hell's bells, we should be looking to sign the Premiership's best not a past it back up. At CB we should be targeting Stones for example. Young, English, someone Poch can improve further. Surely we're currently a more attractive club than Chelsea for a up and coming talent. Then let Toby, Jan, Wimmer and Stones fight it out for first choice. If the price is too high then fair enough, look elsewhere, but there's no doubt we should be aiming for a title winning calibre of player.

Good logic up until the point of actually signing him. Why would Everton sell to us? They rejected £40m from Chelsea so I think the fact that we may be more attractive is irrelevant. We couldn't spend over £40m on anyone, let alone a CB. CCV would also never get a chance.

With the system we play the alternative to Dier would also need to be able to drop in to form a back 3. Signing this type of player would negate the need to sign another centre back and allow CCV to permanently replace Floppio in the 1st team squad.

An alternative to Dembele also needs to have similar attributes including being a beast as Dembele is sorely missed when he's injured. The only player of his type that we've been consistently linked with is Witsel, but do we really want to be spending £20m + on a back up?

An essential signing is an alternative to Kane who can both lead the line or play as a wide forward. The dream signing as mentioned by others would be Lacazette but I'd happily settle for Batushayi.

Bringing 3 players in and getting rid of Floppio, Carroll/Mason and Chadli would leave us with a much stronger squad, especially when N'Jie and Son have both had a full pre-season with us.

My squad would be:

Lloris, Vorm, McGee

Walker, Trippier
Rose, Davies

Vertonghen, Wimmer
Alderweireld, CCV

Dier, new signing
Dembele, new signing, Bentaleb,
Alli, Carroll or Mason

Eriksen, Lamela, Son, N'Jie

Kane, Lacazette/Batushayi

Loan out:

Onomah and Pritchard

Stones as in the player the Everton fans heckle due to his abysmal dip in form? and the player who was subject to a rejected Chelsea bid in the region of £40m?
