Those dafties in Watford should wind their neck in and be thankful we didn't go all Glenn Hoddle on their asses again...

(Just wanted an excuse to post this clip really; pre-dates me as a Spurs fan but I get goosebumps every time I see it.)

What a player. lobbed the keeper and meant it. Unlike Shaquri

Spurs are the limbo London club and that is why in my opinion we get smaller London based teams like West Ham and Watford claiming they hate us and that we're rivals to them.

Tottenham for the most part has really been third in the London hierarchy, behind Arsenal and Chelsea but in front of Palace, Watford, West Ham, QPR etc. It is only in the past 5/6 years that we have made a push towards Arsenal and Chelsea, I still think they're better than us, but we have made up significant ground against them for sure.

I guess smaller London teams declare us as a rival because we're the closest thing that can match their ambition.
The hammers have felt like that about us for ages now. Before that it was Chelsea fans who were desperate to get in on the act. We were never a title club. We just weren't and aren't. Assnal was the London club in those terms so they were left alone. So all the hangers on focussed on us. After all we were a cup club and anyone can do that, despite them not even coming close to doing that.

Throw in a fairly barren 20 year period, by our standards, and every fanbase of a parochial also ran, never has been club, in the south has seemingly developed a mild fixation on us. "Her der, we can do that."

That's my theory.

EDIT: What @Scottish Spur said also. We might not be the tits but we're still a nice slice of terrific.

This season is so baffling. For the first time in awhile it feels like just about anything could happen.

I have one friend that's a United fan (I live in the USA) and his Twitter feed has been some of the most entertaining shit I've seen on social media all year.

"Depay is the new Ronaldo." 5 months later... "Fuck Depay. spoiled, gutless little shit."

Love it. All of it.

Depay is terrible. I hate to pull the 'i told you so' card, but when everyone was creaming themselves over him during thwe summer because he scored a few in the eredivisie, if you actually watched a comprehensive batch of his play youd have noticed how utterly woeful his technique and touch was. Okay, he could dribble a bit and has a good shot but almost every other part of his game was clearly lacking.

But he was awesome on fm! Are you saying they sometimes get it wrong?

Or maybe he's just taking a while to settle. Homesick, lack of confidence, different way of playing all could be factors.

Also, the United fans are circling like vultures around Poch and our players. Seriously, cant we just enjoy a good thing for a while without having everyone else desperate to rip us apart?

Possibly, yes. What i'm saying though is that it was quite clear, to me at least, that he was a limited player. Its no surprise that hes struggling IMO

The media are desperate for the likes of Utd to sign Kane, Vardy, Mahrez, Bojan, Mane and basically any player enjoying a good run of form over the past year. It's all so tawdry and predictable that I'm surprised there isn't a higher rate of per capita suicides among football writers.

If the 'most part' refers to the past 20 years then you are right - before that in the 'most part' we and the gooners have been the top 2 sides on London'

You must be a WUM.

Chelsea have won 15 trophies in the last 10 years and have still only just taken over us as the fourth most successful club in Britain. Prior to being financed by corrupt Russian money, they were a total and utter irrelevancy and had more in common with Watford than they did Tottenham.

Tottenham are traditionally one of Britain's elite footballing institutions. The first to win the double, the first to win European silverware from England, the only amateur side to win the Cup, the only side to win the title following promotion - a Rolls Royce of English football. Don't taint such a name by comparing us with a new money bollocks football club that counted Kerry Dixon as one of its legends before some bored Russian fancied throwing pennies at something.

Bang on brothers

Spurs have always been the bigger club for most of history - I was there for a lot of it.

Our press coveage was huge and we was as big as Arsenal (the long ball team). I'm not having people reinvent history. To me, the stadium and us at the top of league is putting us back where we belong.

I also know us buying Cundy back in the 90s kept that two bob outfit in business

I thought it was obvious from the tone of my comment that I was referring to modern day, the last 15-20 year, but apologies if not. Unfortunately I am too young to recall the glory, glory days in anything apart from documentaries.

Fair play - I would agree with this.

But all through russin money

Jeez just caught up on this thread reading about the Watford fans and even their players.

Why don't they just fuck off and go and listen to candle in the wind or some shit like that. Should calm them down!

I would really enjoy seeing Watford plummet down the table. 2 bob joke of a team can piss off, as can that twat Deeney

Yup. The Charlton twunts tried that shit too a few years back before they and their LEGOLAND ground fucked back off to the lower divisions.
I remember a Gooner colleague saying that he thought Curbishley wouldn't go to Spurs as Charlton were as big (he was serious) and higher in the table (they were at the time he said it). I've reminded him quite a few times since about his total cluelessness. He's a typical arrogant twat to be honest with little knowledge of anything pre Wenger.

we have some really class team celebrations. love how sonny and trippier had no idea how to celebrate, and lamela and kane helped them out. but i think alderwiereld had a surprisingly strong celebration really enjoyed the inclusion of the fans, god i love this team

At the start Kane points towards the fans to guide them, then literally drags Son to the fans. He knows what it means to us and what it means to the fans to celebrate with them. He is the ultimate crowd pleaser. Kane is great for so many reasons, living the dream

From 1992 to when Abramovic took over in 2003 how many times did we;
Win a trophy compared to them
Finish above them in the premier league

He's is suffering a lack of confidence, it's amazing how people tend to overlook the Confidence factor. Quite simply if he was playing for us, in team who actually attack do you think he'd be playing like he is now?
