That was a good read actually. Some very sensible discussion, covering both the title contender for and against arguments that currently go round in my head.

Shows yet again a respected rivalry between us and them, compared to our other rivals. Personally I dislike Liverpool far far more, and this link compared to one of their forums shows exactly why.

Yep, for the most part it was good debate. Always the odd usual comment about spurs always let you down and Man United fans saying they'll buy Poch and Kane, but other than that it was good stuff and not because it's positive towards us but because it was simply debated in a grown up manner which is seemingly rare on forums these days full stop.

Irving.
Scholar.

Some of us have incredibly selective memories when it comes to slagging other clubs off.
Indeed. That helped us flounder around until the mid-2000's though. Rather painful but no complaints. Instead, C18FC got an even bigger sugar daddy. So what, we can't point out that they are a bunch of fucking ****s who should be burning in a pit of eternal agony now?

It's PC gorn mad.

Had the misfortune of having to spend the evening with a mouthy man Utd fan last night and a surprisingly neutral Chelsea fan. When the inevitable footie discussion took place the gobby utd twat suggested that Utd will get Poch and that he would bring Kane with him. Took great pleasure in reminding him that it was no longer the year 2000 and the times, they are a changing!

So the gooners are a mixed bag at the moment. Some of them are chucking themselves out of windows as we are going to win the league. The others are maintaining that we have no chance and we will be lucky to get 4th spot as we are the biggest legends in the league.

Its entertaining reading anyway.
Im in agreement with the others right now. I'm enjoying this spot we are in now, but i dont trust Levy to make the necessary improvements to the squad in order to try and maintain it. Also, we're bound to bottle it eventually. Especially if Poch continues to not really rotate the squad. I'll be shocked beyond belief to even make top 4.

He bought us in 1982 and did what Bates and Harding did at Chelsea - spent more than the club made and sold us to Sugar when we were in a terrible financial state.
Do you think Lineker and Gazza came to Spurs for reasons different to Vialli and Gullit going to Chelsea?

I do think we have a misguided sense of superiority over some clubs.

Call me misguided but to me Spurs are superior to ALL clubs and always will be

Not sure we'll bottle it because the current squad does seem to have a real confidence and belief but I do concur that Levy may not be willing to heavily invest in the January window. Poch is not the type to identify just anyone as a means of bolstering the squad. I am interested to see if he has anyone else in mind apart from Berahino.

If anything I think we will improve in the second half of the season, barring injuries.

Just putting it out there, I'd be happy, but a little disappointed with 4th.

Ahh dont worry about them. I, for one, cannot wait until it all catches up to them. Someday it will and it will be glorious to see them in a shower of shit struggling to survive as a club.

Im interested to see if he has any other targets in minds as well. Not confident he does, however. Seemed like 2 summers ago he was Schneiderlin or bust and last summer was Schneiderlin and Berahino or bust.

In actual fact, he floated us on the stock market, made a shitload of money and squandered it on many things, including bailing out his textile business. That is what took us under, not trying to buy success on the pitch.

I don't think it was an "or bust" scenario personally. He identified the most suitable players to implement his style and, imo, wasn't prepared to accept a compromise as we had young players he could mould, rather than having to mould a bought player, in the case of Schneiderlin anyway.

I think he see's Berahino as the perfect foil for Kane.

Have to say I agree.

Yeah, the Arsenal discussion was interesting, but our side was largely being fought by one guy. The rest were fairly typical. He also compared us to the Suarez Liverpool but forgot the most salient point - that that Liverpool team did not have Europe to deal with. That could still trip us up.

Fair enough. Never had it put like that before (only born in 94).

Alternately, one could say that since he joined we've made multiple successful to very successful signings such as Alderweireld, Davies, Dier, Alli and Son, with Trippier and Wimmer potentially joining that list in time.
