'Lose' them to who?
You want me to tell you who is going to buy them when they ask to leave?
Like berba, Luka, Carrick, keane and bale? Couldn't tell you mate. However we have been here before again and again and again. You think they will stay if we fail this year ?

Just about every team will "lose" players to other teams that are better, it doesn't just happen to us.

Poch isn't an idiot, he knows how difficult January is to sign players and how big our squad is. That he 'will not be happy' flies in the face of all the known facts, everything Poch has said and precedent of previous January windows for all clubs.

If a deal is available, we'll do it but we're not gonna sign top players unless we thrown huge money at it.

So we pull out of Rabiot loan deal to "keep PSG sweet" AND we let them have Ade on loan?!
Are they planning on letting us have Ibra in the summer?!?!

Nope, club partnership and pock of any of our players.......or was that just real?!

Maybe the PSG chairman is the only chairman left that Daniel Levy hasn't pissed off yet.

Fans need to get to grips with the fact that buying and, more importantly in our case, selling players isn't as easy as it is on FIFA or Football Manager. FFP is clearly playing it's part and there's no secret that after buying Bony, Man City shot off to Dubai, apparently to justify the large sums of money that they are being paid by sponsors, so that they could do that deal without getting slapped on the wrist. Not flying back until the Friday night was apparently to maximise the time that the squad was out there for.

That right there is extreme behaviour for a football club, especially when it sacrificed their place in the FA cup, picking a bunch of jet-lagged players on the day that they returned to the country.

We have to wake up as a fan base and realise that now, if we want buy then we have to sell first. If nobody wants our players then it's tough shit for incomings, especially in the space of 1 month. At least in the summer there is more time available to do this kind of business.

Granted, mass overhaul of our squad is far from ideal and we've all felt the sting of that going wrong. But let's not forget that the magnificent 7 from that summer have started to come good now, at least for most part, and we have new people in place (Mitchell) to help us avoid previous mistakes. If Southampton can lose 6 or 7 players and replace them effectively in one summer then we can damn well do it too.

the problem with players that nobody wants, nobody is going want them in the summer or the future. they will only drop in value unless played or released on a free. Some of us feel we need to also learn when to accept a financial loss on a player especially considering the gains we have made on some recent stars. with regard to i comings we need to act fast.. burley are not going to sell whilst in a dogfight, Southampton the reverse with MS (looks like Arsenal anyway) so it's McCarthy for me and maybe a CB ..Moreno? ..this window.

I do agree on the general concept of what you are saying. I understand that maintaining a high price for your assets is a good business strategy, but I also know that cutting running operating costs is a health strategy too.
The one thing that can making releases difficult, is that if the club is the initiating part, the player may or may not be due significant compensation, even if the contract soon runs out. If the player initiates a move, or the move is initiated by both parties in agreement, the compensation might be forfeited. At the end of the day, with loads of ITK stating that there is some interest in some of our players, we must hold out for alternatives to free releases until after the TW.

I agree with you, as do all spurs fan most likely but thats not what will get us new signings. Levy makes the call along with Poch and if Poch thinks he has a "big squad" then how much is he pushing for new players right now? I have no idea but I'm inclined to believe that we won't bring anyone in this month. Hope i'm wrong.

I don't think MoPo wants a big squad, I think he has stated that, I do believe he wants quality. But we won't know until such time as the change takes place.

So PSG, who still have Cavani and Lavezzi on their books apart from the big Swed, want to bring in Ade to be fourth choice... yup, that sounds logical.

I would rather wait for Moreno

This x100

Reid would just be more high-waged deadwood within 6 months. He's so poor on the ball, he makes Dawson look like Modric.

Wait for the real deal (Moreno), than go for the cheap, unsuitable and 3rd rate.
