He's our most creative player and hardest worker/presser atm.

He'll play. Scroll up a bit...that lot aroufn him would do the trick.

If ever Poch was going to alter his regular 4231, a game like this should be it. I'd go:

Lloris

KWP Kaboul Vertonghen Rose

Mason Capoue Bentaleb

Lamela Adebayor Eriksen

Edit:

@SlickMongoose reminded me about Kyle Walker-Peters (who I had put in my team for last thursday).

Yeah, let's throw in a 19 year old RB in a game away to the (second) best team in the league...(n)

Classic BC "I've made my mind up and it will NOT be changed" stuff. Fair play, that was a genuine laugh-out-loud moment for me. (y)

To be honest I think KWP is a bigger talent than McQueen, and probably more likely to get a game for the first team.

Yeah that would do lovely I think.

Originally had wanted Dembele in but he could be a good sub, for Mason etc, later on in the game.

Likewise if we're losing, Eriksen is on the bench for a more positive change if required.

Stambouli assigned to Silva makes eminent sense to me. Has the mobility and tenacity to really get in Silva's face.
No way will eriksen be dropped though. Would love to see chadli given a go as a striker

To be honest it will probably be the same team, with Dier in for Naughton - if he doesn't make it.

I just think its absolutely ideal to go with three in the middle - for obvious reasons. That means one of the usual quartet drops to the bench.

I don't view this as 'dropping' per se...just tactical tweaks.

Nope, I'd prefer the player who has more first-team experience.

That's your prerogative, but I'd rather play a kid who has been specialising in that position for numerous games over the last 2/3/4 years than a 20 yo CB who's had about 6 for the first team.

No, he can and has, but he isn't very good at it. He offers us nothing going forward, which is essential when you play inverted wingers and he has been very shaky defensively. Playing FB requires real athleticism, bursts of pace and speed on the turn. I don't think Dier is designed to play that way.

Already said I don't think Poch will change things, however my team would be:

Lloris
Someone Kaboul Vertonghen Rose
Capoue Mason Stambouli
Dembele Chadli Lamela

I have edited Kyle Walker-Peters in instead, though I'm sure you'll have similar objections and I'll have similar response to those.

This is what our academy and massive investment in development is for.

I think he's been perfectly adequate defensively at right-back, if not quite as assured as he seems at centre-back. I certainly think that he has a mature head on his shoulders for one so young, and I think that that maturity is worth more to the team than any advantage we'd gain from playing A.N.Other totally green youngster in their favoured position (based on my opinion, which apparently isn't shared by you, that Dier isn't a defensive liability at right-back).

As for getting forward, I wouldn't worry about it. We could have Dani Alves available to us in a fortnight's time, but against City away our full-backs aren't going to be doing very much attacking at all, whether they'd like to/been instructed too or not. They'll be camped in with the rest of our side trying to avoid a bludgeoning.

I have no problems with playing youngsters. I wouldn't mind playing someone like McQueen or Walker-Peters if we were playing a team like QPR or Burnley but Man City, at the Etihad?!?!?!?!? It's far too risky IMO (and I think Poch will feel the same) and Dier will at least provide some height at corners and is more experienced. This is obviously assuming Naughton isn't fit but let's face it, it would be a miracle if he is- and I reckon we wont see him in action for some time :(
