He is definitley available. Whether he'll agree to go is another story all together.

Maybe why he was left out all together yesterday, although you look at the bench and can easily make a case for being purely down to numbers and him being poor out in Cyprus.

If he doesn't start on Thursday it will surely be a case of playing time likely to be scarce if he stays....that being the message to him etc.

It's probably got a lot to do with us seemingly always looking to sell them to the mid-lower tier clubs. Ones that don't have much room for improvement on their positions and/or can never offer the wages we can.

Hoping he'll see regular football at Southampton, were he can be the big fish in the small pond etc, as a more likely route to staying in and around the England squad.

I think him being left out yesterday is purely down to a straight choice between him and Lennon for the 'direct' option. You only need one of them on the bench and Lennon seems to be ahead of him in the pecking order.

Yeah, we tend to buy younger players with a view to developing them and selling on for a profit or ideally keep them and move on. The problem comes that some work and some don't. So the ones we look to sell are those that are mid to lower PL quality. But they're unlikely to see themselves as that. Understandable really.

Probably and that surely means we'd entertain letting him go - particularly when you consider the Club who's bidding for him and what we want off them.

He might not want to go but I suppose it depends how its all put to him.

We must be to nice to our players! No one ever want to leave!

People slag Levy off for not being able to bring in the big name players from Europes better clubs, and declare we have no ambition for targeting players from clubs below us in the pecking order. Isn't it strange that it's not just players from Real Madrid that don't really want to take a step down in stature or to somewhere they will recieve less in the way of financials. If it was Man city wanting these same players that don't currently want to leave they would be gone.

This window those that are not in the managers plans need to decide just how much they want to play football, because barring a large injury crisis they will not be playing much if at all. AT is slightly different because Poch has no issue with him staying as a squad player. That said Poch hasmade it clear he does not need both AT and AL. Spoke volumes to me that one was on the bench yesterday and the other wasn't in the squad at all.

surely just banter, yeah? Not reading into it too much - but conspiracy theorists could posit that "say goodbye to your family!!" might have something to it...
Haven't they been having a go on twitter recently?

Andros stuffed all of Soldado's gear and clothes into a small compartment as a prank, as a result Robbie intends to end his life.

These are quotes from Nacer Chadli in the Mirror this evening:

“We have Emmanuel Adebayor at the top and then behind him, we have me, Christian Eriksen and Erik Lamela, who are all encouraged to change position during the game. That makes it very difficult for opponents to choose which one of us to pick up.

“It is a new way of playing and effectively we have three No.10s - that is good because we can also get the full-backs into forward positions and at times we can have five players supporting Ade when we go forward.”

That's why Townsend doesn't fit Poch's system. Unless there's a dramatic change in his playing style down to Poch coaching him.

Couple that with being dropped at the weekend - you have to wonder how he's going to fit in.

Agree Lennon and Andros doesnt fit Pochs system at all. But like already mentioned by Poch, they can bring something at times no one other can give. Talking about plan B in a game. So we have to keep one of the two for that. I'd prefer Andros, but if he is the key to get MS, get rid. easy.

Yeah, I think that's a very revealing quote. It's also probably why Poch loves Kane because of his versatility and ability on the ball. Holtby also seems like an okay fit but I'd imagine he's in the market for an option with some pace but with the ability to pick out a pass as well as score. I'm completely okay with Lennon and Townsend both being sold so long as it means we are bringing at least one player to fill out the numbers in the attacking 3.

Guardian report Townsend could be left on the fringes of Tottenham, with a move away dependent on Southampton's Schneiderlin stance. #THFC

Telegraph report Andros Townsend fears he's caught in the middle of a transfer battle as Tottenham continue to chase Schneiderlin. #THFC

Townsend signed a 4 year contract last October for around £40k a week. So all Southampton have to do is match his wages, raise their offer price to buy him and lower their asking price for Schneiderlin and the deal will be done. I'm not going to hold my breath on this one...

I thought Townsend was on like 15k a week...

That would be better. £15-25k tops. I know his new contract was signed after his England games but £40k would be a hell of a jump up for a player that was on loan at Yeovil & orient not long before, had a decent spell at QPR & a handful of promising games for us. If true no wonder we can't get players to leave!

I don't want to see Townsend go. He was a bright spark when coming on against West Ham in a match that was just simply quite dull at least when looking at our performance. I still without a doubt think he could be a good asset to have from the bench.

Really could live with losing Townsend to Soton if it sealed the Schneiderlin deal and we then move for Welbeck or J-Rod. They are both pacey young English internationals but can also cover at CF and are more of a goal threat

Edit: I'd rather us sell Lennon as AT is a good impact sub but there aren't any takers for him, and he'd be less keen to leave than Dawson!

He's twenty fucking three years old Troy. It's time to step back. Noone gives a shit what you think anymore, and chances are at this point you're doing way more harm than good to his career with your coddling and need for attention.
I don't think it was about Andros, judging by his other tweets,

Completely agree. Even Lennon fits better than Townsend. I love the way that Chadli, Lamela & Eriksen can play anywhere across the 3, all can create and score goals yet all over something completely different. I also think Holtby is a good back up and the only skill set we are missing that could be useful, is a player that has pace and runs off the shoulder of the last man (Rodriguez would fit nicely). Personally, I would be happy with selling Townsend & Lennon and just bringing someone like Rodriguez and for 6th choice, just keep that open for youngsters (Cebellos maybe until Jan, maybe Pritchard from then on if CC doesn't impress).

I'm glad to see we're finally applying that attitude. Rewind a year ago and I remember saying how we need to emulate the approach that Chelsea were utilising with their attacking 3 behind the striker. Mata, Hazard and Oscar were playing some blinding football as a free-flowing, fluid attacking trio. It was incredibly frustrating to see us then play a rigid attacking 3 consisting of 2 wingers and an attacking mid. Granted, the new boys hadn't settled and were off the pace, but we were going into games with Lennon and Townsend as part of the attacking 3 this time last year. It's too predictable, too rigid, and lacks creativity.

Townsend hasn't shown that he can play this style of football, he's a very direct player. Lennon seemed to suit this style better than him in pre-season, linking up well with Lamela, although ended up having a 'mare against Wham. However, a derby game like that, not to mention being the opener, was always going to be a different type of game. I'm still hoping, perhaps in vain, that Andros will adapt his style as I'd much rather invest time into him than Lennon at this stage. He's younger, has the raw talent and is a local lad that we've brought up.

To be fair, sometimes it's nice to have a different option on the bench. The 3 fluid AMs are great, but we may need that direct pacey winger type for some games. Even so, Andros needs to learn to release ball quickly and that his job is to try to create goals rather than score them.
