I'm sure some ITKs said that all purchases after Palacios will need to be financed by sales. I wonder who's going?

probably corluka  but i think charlies probably the first name on the team sheet at centre back now - well i would have thought but then arry didnt name him in his gold standard players... chim will probably do a more consistently attacking job than charlie but god its such a pathetically retrograde step to take, especially with arry and all his heralded connections

Players out could be: Bent, JJ, Huddlestone, Rocha, Ghaly (although rumour says he's already gone)

SS57, be honest mate and tell me what your take is on this.....?

Hutton's out for the season (and really hasn't been that good anyway).

Gunter's got lots of potential but is at least a season away from being a regular first-choice RB.

The question marks over King are growing bigger and bigger.

Charlie's defensively very sound at RB but offers next to zilch going forward. Depending on the King situation, we might need him more at CB or as DM.

At his worst Chimbonda is a dossy twat. At his best, as we saw September-March 2006-2007, he is one of the best RBs around. Remember the wailing and gnashing of teeth when Lampard put him out for 3-4 games during the 2-1? If we get that Chimbonda, I shan't be too unhappy.

I'm not saying I don't have misgivings—I do. But (assuming the whole thing isn't total bollocks) we obviously aren't going into this for a giggle, old times' sake, whatever. If it's been decided that we need an experienced RB, and with Finnan apparently off the menu, how many others that have done business in the EPL can anyone think of?

I am happy to see him coming back. I don't know the fee here, but he is one of the best right backs we have had at the club. I want Cheikh Gueye as our long term right back, though.....

PASCAL CHIMBONDA will complete a stunning £3million return from Sunderland to Tottenham.

SunSport exclusively told you THREE weeks ago that Spurs boss Harry Redknapp wanted to bring back the sulky ful-back who joined the Black Cats just six months ago.

Redknapp desperately wants the defender as cover for the injured Alan Hutton. Tottenham were rebuffed when they tried to nab Chimbonda on loan as Sunderland insisted on a straight transfer.

It is understood the clubs were still haggling over the deal last night but the French star was said to be travelling down to London for a medical.

A source close to the negotiations said: “Spurs are pushing hard to get the player.

“A fee has not yet been agreed but it seems certain to go through.”

Sunderland want around £3m for the French defender who’s has not settled at Wearside.

After a spat with ex - boss Roy Kean Chimbonda was banished to the reserves but he came back in the side under new boss Ricky Sbragia.

Chimbonda, 29, left Spurs after a bust-up with then boss Juande Ramos.

The deal looks set to go through despite Sunderland boss Ricky Sbragia blasting Spurs for trying to unsettle his star striker Kenwyne Jones.

Sbragia said: “It’s depressing when other clubs are saying they want our players after we have said no many times.

“The most disappointing thing is the methods Spurs use.”

He added: “I could understand if it was a top four club or even Everton, but I can’t understand the Spurs thing.”

Some absolutley cracking posts her guys! Have had me in stitches.

On a serious note, not a bad move i reckon, gives us optons but I just hope he can sort his attitude out 'cause quite frankly it sums up everything wrong with the modern payers attitude. Here's hoping!

P.s presumably eligible for the Uefa Cup which will be an added bonus if so.

But its odd that as he is now 1st choice, why would they want to sell him back to us? Especially as they are pissed with us trying to get Jones. Effectively we're taking a 1st choice player away from one of our relegation rivals. Why would they want to sell and why would his price drop by roughly half if he is 1st choice again?

If its £3m its a snip. Fair play I suppose.

My source for the £7.5m was my Cov City supporting housemate who came bounding through from the next room to scream at me that Sky News had said so.

Probably about what we sold him for.

yeah what is this with managers having a pop, they always say they'd be happy to let their players go for a dream move if it was a top four club or a big boy from abroad, but lets face it we are THE dream move.

40k+ a week and you get to do fuck all and seemingly not have to worry about things like pressure or winning like you would at any other of those clubs, let kenwyne live the dream!

He doesn't really seem the type of signing that harry has been talking about though. He has been saying be need characters with passion who are willing to fight for the team. Correct me if i'm wrong but Chimbonda didn't display these qualities the first time around and from what i've read he hasn't been at the mackems. By all accounts he was one of the most lethargic players i have ever seen in a tottenham shirt!
Well I remember something different entirely - whilst he never proclaimed his love for the club, as others have (RK), he always gave his all, because he is one of those players that puts winning above all else - remember his fit after being subbed in the Final? Is that not passion? Or was it only Robert Keane who displayed passion that way, while the rest of the lads got crucified for it?

I am far from happy with this... However, we do have to remember on occasion Chimbonda was a really good player for us. Although if Harry is talking about us needing to replace the sulkers from our squad, surely Chimbo is far from the answer...

Im happy. The boys got fire. We need his sort of aggression in the team. Good buy for 3m, i reckon. We are in a relegation battle afterall.

Are we likely to get FA dispensation as he only left 6 months ago (compared to a year for JD)? If so the FA may as well scrap that rule.

Do you think Levy is insisting on 60% sell on clauses on players we sell, so we make a profit?

When he first joined us, he was a very good RB - perhaps one of the best in the league. His athleticism was - and probably still is - his key attribte and it was him and Zokora who you could count on to be still going at it come the 90th minute.

But his defending is often questionable. He lacks concentration and he lacks positional sense and obviously this is a problem. He also lacks the ability to put in a good cross too.

Am surprised really. He is not as good as Hutton and after Gunter's display on Saturday, the only reason I can see this happening is because he is the cheapest option out there.

In terms of quality, I was happier when those rumours about Paulo Ferreira and Tal Ben Haim surfaced.....
