Tottenham have made a £41m bid for Sporting Lisbon midfielder Bruno Fernandes. That’s according to Duncan Castles, who says Spurs are aware of a clause in Fernandes’ contract that forces Sporting to offer the player compensation if they reject a bid of at least £32m for him.

Aren't they looking for something closer to £64M?

If they were prepared to deal at £41M I would have thought MU would have done the deal by now.

Thought this said Levy flew out himself to try and push the deal and got excited before I finished reading the title. What this window does to you.

If United are involved any selling club will insist on a Premium.

Sounds like Levy has made an offer that has fuck all chance of being accepted then.

Isn't that the point. If they have to pay compensation to the player for every bid rejected over 32mill they will be losing money hand over fist.

This is called negotiations, start low and meet in the middle.

Sporting need to sell so we're not going offer what they want.

All very well starting slow when you have bags of time. Another rule of negotiating is to not antagonise your counter part unnecessarily. Levy usually manages to do this with the first bid which often seems to make the other party dig in deep.

That would be true if the seller doesn't need to sell, in this instance they do so the negotiations favour the buyer as they have more room for more movement - not every deal is the same.

Pretty much on the money. We get to a situation with a few days to go & the selling club knows it has the whip hand & whilst Levy is happy to walk away it leaves us with an unhappy manager & a squad that's standstill.
