Tottenham may have even more good news ahead of next season with Troy Parrott - a player who former manager Jose Mourinho once labelled 'a privileged one' - starting to shine on the international stage.

Would be great if he could step up. Imo, Dane Scarlett could do with a decent loan somewhere that would get him some experience and game time at a good level.

It’ll be interesting to see how they both get on in preseason. My gut feeling is that Parrot will probably struggle to get in our side if we make significant signings in the forward positions. So another loan, perhaps to a championship club would be better for his development.

Scarlett should definitely be going out on loan too.

We'd all like a quality addition up top, but we'd also like to see one of our youngsters given a chance. Both Parrott and Scarlett are well thought of at the club. Will be interesting to see how it pans out.

I hope he is ready to play a role... I like Parrott very much... and I would love him to be a part of our future... but it doesn't change the fact that we need a quality "back up" for Kane if we want to challenge at the highest level.

Not for me, I don't think he has shown enough in his loan spells to tell me he has what it takes to be Harry's back up. Another loan possibly to one of the promoted sides to see how he goes.

At the moment it looks possible that our 5 attacking options going into the season will be Kane, Son, Kulu, Richarlison and Moura.

That's a pretty versatile front line that could be rotated and each getting game time.

If we buy a 6th then someone isn't going to play much at all. Maybe a youngster like Parrott could take that role but he'll surely benefit more from regular football on a loan rather than hoping for the odd game for us.

To be fair Kane wasn’t the greatest on his loan spells either.

He also didn’t fare too great when was in our B side in European games.

It can be hard to tell how successful a player can be - not saying he will or won’t be.

Who writes this shite. His MK loan was hardly "unsuccessful".
The article describes his his three loans (collectively) as "fairly lacklustre", not "unsuccessful".

Is it at all unfair to describe ranking joint 30th in the League One top-scorers table, with a scoring rate of less than 1 in 4, as "fairly lacklustre"? Compared to other League One players he was hardly spectacular. Add in the context that he's on loan from a PL club (where his coaches had high expectations), but is now only slightly above average in the third tier of English football, despite making his PL debut 2.5 years ago..."fairly lacklustre" is pretty generous coming from the mainstream media.

I certainly wouldn't write him off yet, but he probably needs to produce an improved goal return in the Championship before we can even consider recalling him to our first team.

That's true, but Kane managed a better scoring rate in the Championship (Millwall) at only 18 years old, than Parrott has managed in League One at 20 years old. Kane also scored for our first team in the Europa League that season, before going out on loan.

Kane hardly played during his subsequent two loans, so his stats for those spells aren't a fair comparison. Parrott made 47 appearances for MK Dons last season, so had opportunities to get into a rhythm / play himself into form.

At the same age as Parrott is now (20), Kane forced his way into our first team by impressing in U21 PL games (averaging >1.5 goals & assists per game!) and by contributing goals & assists in cup games (something that Parrott failed to do in the very limited opportunities that he was afforded)...then performed well once given PL opportunities (something that Parrott also failed to do). In fairness to Parrott, it's clear that his first team opportunities with us came too soon, but I see no indication that he's ready for another chance (yet).

A loan to a Championship side, where he gets regular starts, would be the best thing for him imo. Same goes for Scarlett.

An article a while back indicated something has clicked with Parrott this last season and he now realises he wasn't working hard enough at making it. That has been born out by an improvement in his performances, work rate and goal return over the second half of the season. So IMHO he should now get a clean slate and we judge him going forward rather than looking back at some of his less favorable loans.

This is why we shouldn't be judging too much on loans.

Parrott likely thought he was working hard but on reflection saw there were areas he needed to work on. It's about learning and adjusting your daily habits.

So maybe he hasn't always got it right. If he's learnt now and can get himself up to level then great.

A pre-season with us, followed by a loan spell in the Championship - while putting his newfound work-rate into practice throughout - sounds like a decent plan to me.

I thought conte wanted two for every position? That means we will need 6 to cover front 3 positions. Atm we have 4 so even if we spend big money on a player like richarlison we will need someone else and there’s no reason why it couldn’t be parrott- he’s certainly flexible enough to cover all positions and it would only take a few injuries or suspensions and he’d be involved somehow

With a much improved squad it's not a given that we will always have a front three. With someone like Eriksen in the squad, it's probable that we would often revert to two. I think five top class forwards would ensure good cover and good rotation.
