I see the world of Twitter is flushed with links to Bale again.

I can't pretend to know anything about Dybala. But I can say I believe Bale would be an upgrade on both of the players you mentioned (in terms of output, there's no comparison) and, unlike with Dybala, we know Bale could come in and be effective in the PL. Has an understanding with Kane & Son, and also a similar understanding with Doherty as Deki seems to have clicked.

Worth thinking about?

I agree, but the primary reason for (potentially) selling Sanchez would probably be to free up funds rather than to upgrade on him. Whereas if Davies becomes a back-up player, it would make financial sense to keep him.
If someone comes in with a good offer I would for sure sell. Im just thinking about how many players we can realistically bring in and sell in one window, I mean we are already looking at 2 forwards if both Bergwijand Lucas go, a CM if not 2, a RWB if not 2, a LCB, a back up GK and there has been talk of De Vrij as a back up to Dier. That minimum 5 and max 9 players in both of which are crazy and having that many new faces around could destabilise the dressing room a little and take time to imbed. In that regard it would actually make sense to go back to Juve for Dybala and Cudrado (who we are linked to atm) as they would already know each other and Deki and Bentancur.

Re Sanchez Im also not really sure who we could get to replace him that would be an upgrade to a back up. In theory im all for selling and upgrading him but I think he’s actually been good for certain spells this season better then both Rodon and Tanganga (although he’s obviously had a lot more football) and considering we are in for quite a eventual summer I don’t find it an essential sell.

2x CM seems very unlikely to me, considering PEH seems to compliment Bentancur and Skipp (pre-injury) also worked well in Conte's system. We've just signed Bentancur and have Sarr arriving in the summer.

Would De Vrij really join as a back-up?

We could potentially sign a relatively young CB with the potential to be better than Sanchez, on the basis that they wouldn't routinely start (so don;t need to be top 4 quality yet) and would be content to compete for playing time. We could then reinvest the profit in another position (short-term benefit) and potentially end up with a better CB further down the line (long-term benefit).

I wouldn't be surprised if what's happened to Rodon, a full Welsh international, might put off a fair few candidates. What on earth is he doing wrong to never get a kick?

That's a fair point. It's also possible that Conte is willing to settle for Tanganga as a back-up RCB option, if we sign another CB/LCB.

trouble with Bale is if wales qualify for the WC he'd be extremely reluctant to do anything that would cause injury before tournament start in November

Also would his motivation levels drop after the WC. Personally out of the two, all things being considered, Dybala would make a lot more sense to me.

If he was realistic with wages I'd still take him for a season to come off the bench. Surely as long as he's not playing 60+ minutes twice a week the risk of injury is minimal.

The word rebuild sounds over exaggerated. We have a solid spine in the team, and a decent team. We need to supplement the squad with improvements. However, that needs to be done year, on year.
