The South African government is pursuing a sponsorship deal with Premier League club Tottenham, following in the footsteps of the United Arab Emirates, Rwanda, Malta and others who have used the world’s biggest soccer league to promote their countries.

South Africa’s Ministry of Tourism said Wednesday it was looking to conclude a memorandum of understanding with Tottenham through SA Tourism, which is the tourism marketing arm of the government.

Thank you but no !
fix your country first before handing out cash ?

I think they would be looking at return on investment rather than saying"hey everything is great". The money from tourism increasing would help to improve things for the poorest people in society.

It's a big yes from me.

I'm not so sure, tbh.
South Africa is a beautiful country but it's society is totally fucked, with a massive gap between 'the haves' and 'the have nots'.
It won't be the poor, crime addled areas that benefit from additional tourism money, it'll just go back to the rich and corrupt.
