Premier League footballer Robinho has been arrested by police investigating an allegation of sexual assault.

The Manchester City forward met with police as part of a "criminal investigation", following the alleged attack at a nightclub in Leeds.
Robinho's spokesman, Chris Nathaniel, said the player "strenuously denied any allegation of wrongdoing".

West Yorkshire Police confirmed a man was arrested on Tuesday in connection with an alleged incident on 14 January.
Mr Nathaniel said Brazilian international Robinho met with police, as pre-arranged, as part of the criminal investigation and later released on bail.

"He strenuously denies any allegation of wrongdoing or criminality and is happy to co-operate with the police if further required," he said.
Robinho, whose full name is Robson de Souza, joined Manchester City from Real Madrid in September for £32.5 million, making him Britain's most expensive player.

The whole rape allegations were posted on here like two weeks ago.

Someone on here knew the girl, or knew here through a friend of a friend. Think he called her a money grabbing whore or something.

Putting aside who the person is, I always feel it's somehow wrong that the accused is named, and because in this case he's famous is plastered all over the papers even before found guilty, whilst the accuser is able to stay annonomous, surely a fairer way is for all parties to remain under wraps until guilt is proven.

There was a case on the news last year where a man had been accused so was named and he got all sorts of abuse, petrol through his letterbox etc etc, the girl was not named, then the case was dissproved in court and the girl broke down and said she'd made it all up for revenge because he'd dumped her. What if someone had murdered him before the court case ?

Now don't get me wrong rapists deserve all they get if they are proven to be guilty, but be named before a trial is wrong IMO.

He comes across as a nice, fun-loving guy. I don't believe this.

So some bint's had sex with Robinho in a nightclub and now wants a pay-off.

Doesn't this usually happen to at least one footballer a year?
