Did anyone notice that every time he went full pelt recovery yesterday, he seemed a bit slow and stiff looking afterwards? I thought a couple of times that he'd pulled something. He's a phenomenal player and his pace is frightening, how we are so bad defensively in terms of shipping goals with him, Romero, Porro et al is beyond me...

Yeah I thought he was gonna pull up a few times after a couple of the recovery sprints too but he carried on as usual after every time.

Controversial as he’s a class player but not sure how good he is in the air for such a big guy. Why is he not clearing more corners. I’m not sure it’s only a tactical issue.

Prime John Terry etc just headed everything away it was really that simple. We lack someone like that.

He is weak in the air and it was spoken about before he signed.

It is the single biggest thing he has to work on in his game imo. He’s a wonderful talent but needs to become more dominant in the air with his size and frame.

So, all we need is a prime Terry, a new Rodri, a new Eriksen and a new Kane - then we are pretty much sorted!

If VDV is not so good in thr air and we insist on zonal marking then put him on the near post sort of where Kane used to be - then at least the opposition have to get the ball high to clear him which means there is less chnace of it landing in the middle of our six yard box and more chance of it going long.

I'd take a fit King, Woodgate or Alderweireld over Terry any day. Much better on the ball and also not horrible people.

He has a very hard running style, incredible straight line speed but not good for turning, and it's not an easy watch seeing him do it now with the injury he's already had, its not like watching bale burst forward in his spurs days.

There are some calls for him to cover on the left because of his speed but personally i'd rather we left his speed for emergencies in defense and protect him a bit for the rest of the season.
