I'd only be happy with Dele leaving if we get someone similar in quality in that fits into Jose's system.

Would be a shame if we just loaned him out and just left it as that.

If he was going to play again it would've been tonight after not being in the squad at all on Sunday.

To my mind, there’s always a place in the squad for someone with Dele’s ability as a potential game changer. We can register 25 players, so that’s 2 per position for the set formation, a third gk, and say a versatile or young defender and an attacker who offers something a boy different.

That said, if his sale releases funds that can be used to improve that initial 22 players (as he appears not to be part of it) then it makes sense. Not thrilled as he’s done things for us that of our current squad are not capable of, but equally there comes a time were the bigger risk is to keep him. It’s for Jose to judge whether Dele’s decline being reversed, which I imagine is a long term project, it’s worth the short term pain of having a slightly (and I say slightly as it’s only one position in reality) imbalanced squad.

I know we don't want him to get injured and scupper any potential move but given the amount of games we will have played by Sunday evening surely we could of played him in this game and given someone else a rest?!
It's a bit hard to stand over the moaning by José over fixture congestion if you don't make use of the squad.

Wonder if he did test for covid as someone mentioned?

Anyway sad to see this happen. I do really think a move would be great for him, as he's stagnated here.

Looking at our schedule we really could've used him tonight/Thursday, so something must be close to happening, as I don't see why he's dropped again after Jose saying he's trained well.

Hart
Aurier Foyth Alderweireld Reguilón
Sissoko Ndombele Gedson
Bergwijn Lamela Sessegnon

After the way Jose managed GLC and Ndombele, I’m trusting him over Dele.

Dele has a shit attitude. He gets subbed off and strops, throws water bottles around and, as Amazon showed, points fingers at his team mates and questions the manager’s tactics.

Jose offered him an olive branch in the Europa League and he was useless. If we get a huge fee, take it.

To be honest, I think there is an element of Dele pushing for this too. I think he realises he's becoming a bit of square peg in our evolving formation and is worried about his game time.

I think some of the stories out there have come from his end for sure. The one from Agbonlahor on Talksport where he said Jose doesn't appreciate him and he only started vs Everton because Bergwijn pulled out late stood out to me. Where did he get that info from? The Jenas stuff recently too. Likelihood is it came from Dele's side.

Some people will use this as another stick to beat Jose with, but I don't think he's done anything wrong with Dele, unless he is forcing him out by not picking him of course.

A loan somewhere to get his mojo back feels like the best solution for all parties.

The only possible explanation is that a deal is being discussed and we cannot afford his getting injuried.

I have no doubt that Jose would be using him this week otherwise, and if the deal falls through I am sure he will be back in the picture quickly enough.

very sad and i really liked Dele but in the recent two seasons he has been a bit of a passenger at times and rarely a game changer. I know the rest of the team has also not played well at points but even at the end of the season he was dropped and we were playing some good football. It does feel that what mourinho needs is somebody in the middle behind the striker with flair like lo celso, ndombele and lamela. I wonder if Alli goes if we replace him with somebody even like Cantwell who can play a few positions.

I’d really love to know what’s gone on behind the scenes for him to turn from the player that joined us with such hunger to the one who has become a lazy trainer. I feel for him because of the problems he had growing up and to get himself to the position he’s now in in life is a huge achievement. It doesn’t fathom how he’d now give it all up. Maybe his body has just given up the ghost. He started playing pro football when he was 16 which is obviously very long. It could just be the hamstring injuries have taken more out of him than we know. Or he could of just become rich and lazy. I suspect the truth is somewhere in between.

Maybe a loan would be best, but I wouldn’t send him to a big club to get that hunger back, he needs to go and be a big fish in a small pond, where he’s relied on to supply the goals and assists. That’s when he thrives best. I don’t think a loan to PSG is the right one for that and a number of reasons.

Seems that he is off, think if it was an earn your place issue he would play tonight.

Understand people who want him to stay but I think I am in the camp selling if the price is right. I do struggle to see where he fits in the team when everyone is fit.

Surely if he does we will look to bring in a replacement AM on loan?

If Lo Celso or Ndombele get injured we are a little light again.

And that's not a bad team but we need most of the mid/forwards for Thursday and Sunday like ndombele, sissoko, Berg and lamela so adding in Dele to that would mean giving one of those I referenced a break because we also have no son now as well.

Could be off but could also be saving him for the ‘more important’ EL game and put out a really weak team tonight? ?‍♂️

I really don’t mind if he’s off if it enables us to bring in a CB, ST and ideally another midfielder, he doesn’t suit how we Play now, he slows our attacks down and For the balance of the overall squad and greater good if we need to sacrifice dele then so be it.

Jose's first words......"prove to yourself Dele that you can be a great, great player, not someone who had a few good years. I don't know if it's your lifestyle, friends attitude, but prove to yourself that you're one of the best...."

For comparison, he said to the same to Kane....I know I'm being extremely harsh, but there's just no room for sentiment at this level. It's one of the reasons we haven't won a trophy in 12 plus years.

Jose is a serial winner. He ..(needs) DEMANDS that from his squad.

Time to capitalize if we can on this investment and improve our squad of serial winners.

I trust Jose.. because his record tells me so
