I've only seen him a few times, but he's never really impressed me. . His name keeps coming up tho, maybe Harry see's something in him that I dont.

Would much rather see Llorente playing at The Lane for us.

I remember a very good poster breaking down why this guy is poor. It had to do with only scoring in the Superliga against the lower teams. Maybe they will re-post, but they really made me worry about this guy.

What about...

Lucas Barrios of Borussia Dortmund? He has marvellous statistics; 33 goals in 59 appearances for Borussia. Reasonably big (1.87) and good in the box.

Barrios is a good shout. I also like the look of Radamel Falcao. I think there are better options than Cardozo. He isn't really any better than what we have. We already have players on his level, we need someone a bit special. He isn't a bit special.

I thought I liked the sounds of us going for Barrios, and now that you've said you like him that's good enough for me, because, as we previously established, you hate everyone :p so he must be a bit special.

I must admit I know little of Barrios in terms of his style of play but I know Dortmund have been very impressive this year and that his scoring record for them is very good.

Am I right in saying he's keeping out Cordozo of the Paraguay team or do they play them both together?

I've watched Cardozo a few times and he's always looked mediocre to me. If it's a big, strong target man Harry is after then Pavel Pogrebnyak would be a far better (and cheaper) option, or push the boat out and sign Llorente; but like a few others on here i'd really like to see us sign Radamel Falcao.

Falcao is such a workhorse tackling back we could even get away with an attacking line-up of Bale, Modric, VDV, Lennon, Falcao, Llorente which would be the most devastating club attacking line-up outside of Barcelona.

Here it is (from last summer)...I'd reiterate that I haven't seen much of him play but was quite unimpressed from the little I have seen (the teary-eyed breakdown following his bottled penalty against Chile stands out):
4 goals in 33 international matches with most of those in S. American qualifying/Copa America.

Looking at his 2009-2010 goals video I was pretty underwhelmed, well over a third were penalties and excluding a few nice headers, most of the rest were Darren Bent style tap-ins/rebounds that fell right to him.

He also cost Benfica over €11M so they'd probably be looking for at least £15-18M, so he's exactly not a cheap option...what'd Crouch cost us, £9M?

Check out where his goals came for last year too - 3 in an 8-1 beat-down on Vitoria, 3 in a 6-1 against Madeira, 3 in a 4-0 against Coimbra, 3 in a 5-0 against Olhanense. Meanwhile he had no goals against Sporting, Porto, or Braga in league play, and Defoe gets more assists.
I also believe he's, at best, 4th choice for Paraguay after Roque Santa Cruz, Barrios, and Valdez?

In the WC Barrios and Valdez tended to start, with Cordozo and Santa Cruz on the bench.

Barrios impressed me; but Cordozo just has a bit of Marc Janko about him.

He's been linked to Spurs for the last 2 seasons or so, just a re-run of an old story. Hasn't impressed me enough be convinved he'd be worth getting.

That's what I was thinking along the lines of the WC but wasn't sure if that was representative of Paraguay's lineup consistently.

I think he's pretty good. He scores huge amounts for Benfica (2 in 3) and is 129 in 185 for his career. Very good record...

Watching Academica v Benfica now, 1-0 to Benfica with 88 mins gone and Cardozo has been a bit shit, although he might be credited with the goal, which right now I actually can't remember how happened (I'm very, very tired atm) but it was contentious and either him or Saviola will be given it.

He has a decent touch and seems quite strong but he's been even more pedestrian than Berbatov normally is, and doesn't have any of Berbatov's skill to compensate for this.

Granted this is just one game but I can't see him being a PL hit. Portuguese big-shot is about his level. I'm therefore glad his name hasn't popped up in any ITK or newspapers recently.
