Memphis Depay turns down Tottenham

According to Spanish publication SPORT, Barcelona forward Memphis Depay has rejected the chance to join Antonio Conte’s Tottenham Hotspur. The Dutch forward is open to leaving the Catalan club but is eager to study more options before making a concrete decision.

He should grasp the opportunity and come here - after all he'd be fifth in the pecking order, as opposed to sixth now. So that would mark a career improvement.

I was going to slag him off but his goalscoring record aside from United is better than I realised. 42 in 80 for Netherlands. Still, I've decided he's crap and if I go back on that I'm weak.

Barcelona have bought very well this window, but I doubt they are going anywhere with Xavi still at the helm. They should have persisted with Koeman, much better than Xavi I think.

I'm not sure if Depay would be a good rotation option for us, but I guess he wants to be more than just a rotation option, else he would be happy to stay at Barcelona.

That's the point, he doesn't want to be a rotating option. He wants to be first choice. I think his level is below Spurs.

He's more of a Lyon, Porto, PSV, Newcastle standard of player
