Tottenham line up deal for rookie Italian keeper

Tottenham are lining up a summer bid for Italian goalkeeper Marco Silvestri, according to reports in Italy.
Andre Villas-Boas has options at his disposal with Hugo Lloris in fine form after replacing Brad Friedel as his first-choice keeper earlier this season.
But with Friedel turning 42 in May it would be no surprise if Tottenham were looking to sign a younger alternative as back-up for Lloris.
And Silvestri, the Chievo goalkeeper, has seemingly caught their eye. The 21-year-old is currently on loan at Padova in Serie B and is thought to be one of the most exciting young talents in Italy.
And Calciomercato report that Tottenham are ready to open discussions with Silvestri's representatives to see if he would welcome a move to White Hart Lane.

Is Lloris only 23? If so, a 21 year old 2nd choice may never make it to the first 11 unless Lloris is sold in the next 3-4 years, or god forbid, suffers a serious injury. I think there should be something like a 4-year age gap between 1st and 2nd choice keepers.

If he's smart he'll say no. Unless he's actually shithouse as a keeper.

I see no reason why any decent young keeper would even consider coming to us right now, unless we offer them quite silly wages for a backup keeper. Lloris is only going to get better.

I mean, unless the club already know Hugo isn't sticking around for long.

He's turing 27 in december, but I get your point. If things work out fine Lloris could be Spurs' 1st keeper for another 10 years.
