Qatar 2022 is just around the corner and with that comes complications with the usual fixture calendar.

Normally, all World Cups are to be played out during the summertime, meaning that the usual club European competitions can run their usual course by being able to kick off in mid-late August.

However, with temperatures in the Middle Eastern nation reaching an unpalatable 40 degrees Celsius plus around this time of year, it is simply not an option for players and supporters alike, even with the air-conditioned stadiums that have been built.

I'm expecting a lot of drained players returning to their clubs which could have a big affect on the latter part of the season.

It was a stupid idea at the time and it remains a stupid idea now.

The impact on the season is crazy and there are way too many games crammed into a short period of time. The majority of weeks will see midweek and weekend games for most clubs :banghead:

This is not sustainable and there will be a lot of soft tissue injuries (hamstrings, groin, etc…) as there isn’t enough recovery time between matches let alone chances to work on things in training. I firmly believe this is a key reason we’re making lots of signings so we can heavily rotate with less impact on the starting 11.

Somebody on Reddit pulled together an overview of the fixtures before TV games mess around with it even further

What nobody is considering is the month before the WC when nobody wants to get injured. I think you’ll see the lesser teams with non WC still at 100% at some of the big clubs at 90% and a few odd results.

I honestly don’t think post is as big an issue as most think. Will be the mental effect on losing players in later stage. Physically they are playing no more games than would do anyway that time of year.
