Several ITK back then were saying that Harry in fact was ready to sell Bale. Remember how he used to claim, after Bale got a regular 1st team spot, that he'd one day become a top class left-back...
For that sake, he also said that Modric was better on the wing. And that Suarez...never mind.

Yeah, that ITK will be a lot more believable.

In his book he says he was never going to sell Bale, and that the signing of Van der Vaart came about as Levy asked him if he wanted him on loan, which then turned into a permanent deal, so he took no credit for it. He might be a self righteous prick, but if he says he wasn't going to sell Bale I'll believe him over Tribal Football or 'ITK'.

Not that it really matters in the end, but I do believe that Harry was looking to get shot of Bale, at least on loan.

Damien Commolli said: “After I went, they even had a discussion with Juventus to sell Modric, because they didn’t believe in him. And he [Redknapp] even tried to get rid of Bale.”

Clive Allen said: "It did go pretty close," he says. "I know there were discussions between [Tottenham, Birmingham and Nottingham Forest]. The clubs had agreed the potential of the move. It was something we had to think about but he wanted to stay at Spurs. It probably got to the stage where it was Gareth's decision. He made his mind up to stay and fight for his place."

I look forward to more old articles from Harry being reproduced as we take a stroll down memory lane and revist more opportunities to stick the boot in over fuck all.

Its getting seriously pathetic now.

Bits in bold mate.

For Comolli and Allen see Tribal Football and ITK.

Redknapp makes some reference in his book about receiving a phone call from Alex McLeish but it going nowhere. People love to claim (not you) that Bale only got his place because of an injury to BAE which wasn't true as HR had said in the months leading up the ACN that Bale would get his chance anyway as BAE would be off.

I'm more than happy to cut Redknapp the slack where Bale is concerned as I would never have thought he would have washed his hands of the VdV deal like he did and credit Levy for it.
