Tottenham have been keeping tabs on Fiorentina’s former West Brom midfielder Borja Valero, writes the Sunday People.
Spurs boss Andre Villas-Boas’s spies have watched the 28-year-old at least four times but have yet to formalise their interest.
Valero signed a four-year deal at The Hawthorns in 2008, moving to the West Midlands from Mallorca, but the Baggies were relegated back to the Championship at the end of his first season.
After spells back at Mallorca and then Villarreal, Valero moved to Italy at the start of this season and has impressed greatly in Serie A.
Meanwhile, former Tottenham boss David Pleat is backing Villas-Boas to guide the club to European glory.

Quality player but I'm suspect about the link, he was excellent at Villarreal and is in a great situation at Fiorentina.

Personally I didn't think he was very good at Villarreal, I think he and Cani disjointed them

Seeing Fiorentina and us are linked with Clasie I'd rather we buy the young Clasie than the 28yo Valero, surely that fits better with our business model, let Fiorentina keep Valero rather than us buy him and enable them to buy Clasie then we bid double what they paid for him a couple of years down the line
