Andoni Iraola emerges as Spurs transfer target
Athletic Bilbao's Andoni Iraola is the man Spurs boss Harry Redknapp wants to strengthen his defence in January, according to reports.

Keeping clean sheets has been a real problem for Tottenham this season and Redknapp is keen to bring in some experienced defenders when the transfer window opens.

Iraola, 28, is renowned as one of the best attacking full-backs in Spain and his consistent displays for Bilbao have attracted the attention of scouts from Europe's major clubs.

His current deal expires in 2012 and Tottenham hope to exploit that situation by making a bid for him in January, reports IMScouting.

Iraola has a £25 million buyout clause in his contract, but Spurs are set to test the water with a £10.5 million offer.

The White Hart Lane club are also rumoured to be lining up a bid for England centre-back Joleon Lescott, as worries about Ledley King's fitness continue.

Lescott has struggled to force his way into the Manchester City team this season and it is thought Eastlands boss Roberto Mancini will allow him to move on in January.

Would be crazy to pay that amount of money for him! He is 28 years old. I don't think this is true, though.

Isn't that about what we paid for Hutton? Who is doing well for us and is racking up good Premiership experience? And what about Walker, Corluka, Kaboom? Bonkers if true.
