Who has performed to a good standard (compared to their ability) over the past 2 years?
Kane
Lloris (despite a lot of criticism on here)
Aurier
Son at times but in real bursts (he hasn’t been very good for 2021).
Hojbjerg maybe? But he has tailed off second half of the season like Son.

...it opened. Financial prudence during a time of uncertainty is a good thing.
You damned Levy for buying expensive players like Lo Celso and Ndombele but also say he hasn’t spent enough. You might be frustrated but being a chairman is a thankless task and I am sure Levy shares your...
I agree with your criticism of Ndombele. He needs to do more to become the metronome of the team. I think he will always be a more direct player useful for quickly transitioning through the middle third quickly but capable of being effective against locked defences.
I was actually a bit harsh...
...a factor. He is elite in terms of playing progressive passes. People complain about winks and his safe 5 yard passes (a bit harsh) and Ndombele is the opposite.
I do still think there are moments where he could be more involved. But that is also tied to how we play. Give us a manager who...
I’m an Ndombele fan but I agree with you. The stats bear this out - he doesn’t make enough passes for a top class number 8.
That’s part of why our next manager needs to be a teacher. Quite a few of our players need someone to get into their game and improve them. The carrot needs to be an...
I think people are misunderstanding what kind of player Ndombele is. If you look at his stats and how he plays he is like Veratti, Barella or Neuhaus. He is one of the elite midfielders in Europe in terms of dribbling, carrying the ball forward and playing aggressive through balls. Hes in the 99...
Dembele wasn’t that player for most of his time with us. Even his last year was flashes. People remember the highlights and think he was always consistent. We got two top top years from him otherwise it was flashes or he was injured.
I know people won’t like that but it’s true

Lucas for the press. Bale impact sub if we’re losing.
Get him and Ndombele in a front foot system and give them 5-6 games and they will look very good. These sorts of creative relationships aren’t forged overnight in such a critical area of the pitch.
People will do why they did with Ndombele - they’ll say « he used to be crap so I called it how it was and now he’s good and I’m delighted ». When really players should be given time and people should recognise that when you have a dog shot system and bad morale everyone looks worse than they...
But when the likes of Kane, Son, Ndombele and Lloris look subpar then you’ve got to look at the system.
Too many players playing below their potential too often for it to just be the players.
It’s the story of his time at Guingamp from 15-19 relayed by people at the club who knew him then. They remember him fondly as a humble Guy. Ndombele says he didn’t think he would make it when he was younger.
He had a nonchalance (great word) on the pitch which gave him something extra but also...
Fair enough. But I think Pogba is an 8 not an AM. He plays significantly deeper. His is the assist to the assist.
In fact he’s more like...Ndombele...
Right, where are my whips and chains?
Fair enough.
In the context of the discussion though, how Pogba plays for France is relevant. Ndombele is going to find it hard to break in if Pogba plays really well and is a nailed-on starter. Dressing room presence is an important factor for Deschamps who thinks that character is as...
Pogba is really good for France. I don’t see him often for Man Utd but he is top draw for the national team. He made the assist for the assist today and it was a perfectly weighted slide rule pass into exactly the right place - thing of beauty. Massive and positive dressing room presence too.
