I’d still take him back in a heart beat, especially if we can get wingers sorted out as well.

I’d only want him back if he’d won significant honours with Bayern, otherwise I think overall it would detract from our project and focus.

He isn't coming back, c'mon lads. We did this for years with Bale.

Obviously he'd be amazing in this Spurs team, because he's the best striker in the world.

I recently watched that All or nothing documentary following the German national team in Qatar, and some of what you're saying there is definitely recognizable in what was portrayed in that docu.

Overall, they seemed to have very little drive or enthusiasm, and individually (just my cursory impression) I thought Kimmich and Goretzka seemed like trouble. Kimmich a very undiplomatic character and Goretzka was indignant that Gundogan was starting in front of him. Muller on the other hand seemed like a good guy.

I'll add the caveat that it's hard to know if you're really getting the right impression of individuals in these sorts of things but that's just how I was struck.
I've always thought Goretzka's a ****.

I think if he does came back it will be in a few years time and he will be a different player to the one we remember. I think even now he’s a different player to the one he was four or five years ago. He’ll be 31 this summer so inevitably his game will change as he nears his mid 30s.

Lots of players have returned to Spurs over the years, from Bale to Teddy to Klinsmann to Defoe to Keane. Even Chimbonda. But I think Kane is much more likely to be a Teddy style return than a Keane style return, if Kane returns at all.

Heard nothing that suggests Kane wants to leave Bayern.

If he did, we should definitely do what we can to buy him.

That is madness, I'd take him back in a heartbeat. You don't say no to a 30+ goals per season striker (who is also a great playmaker) especially one who is so much part of our club.

Take Kane out and we're just as good if not better than Bayern. Going to Germany was stupid, even if he wins a Bundesliga next year my question is - who really cares? He should come back, help us win a trophy that actually matters, and break Shearer's record.
So that’s what the extra investment is for. Buy Harry back. Wonder what they would take.

Yeah undoubtedly he would make a massive difference, he’s world class.

But the problem was we had got stuck in a rut with him. The club was going nowhere during his final four seasons here. Kane the player was not responsible for that but arguably Kane the man was.

From the outside it looked like we made some seriously badly thought out managerial appointments to appease Kane. Those appointments set the club back four or five years. Then there was the whole Man C debacle and the Neville interview which cast a shadow over the whole club. Then there was this whole attitude around the club (including among our own fans) that we were terrible and would be mid table or relegated without Kane. Finally, Kane left at his first opportunity to do so.

How can you build anything given all of the above?
He would be standing on Maddisons toes.

He wasn't done, he had 10 goals and 10 assists for us even though Mourinho used him so sparingly. He could've had a massive season under the right manager.
He was still great, shame it was covid year though.

Levy might be full of it but he claimed the agreement with Bayern included a buy back clause

I think there was a similar buy back clause, or at least first refusal, in the Bale deal though. And ok, he came back, but that was nothing to do with any buy back clause.

For a buy back clause to mean anything it would have to be at a fee we were prepared to meet and Kane would have to want to come back. Presumably any buy back clause would be set at over £100m and presumably Kane would want us to match his increased salary at Bayern, even if he wants to come back, which is probably unlikely given he was desperate to leave less than a year ago.

The chances we buy a 31 year old back for over £100m on a contract of something like £300-400k a week seems very unlikely to me. Same with Kane wanting to return here so soon after being desperate to leave for at least two years.

Maybe near the end of his contract he’ll come back on a loan or similar. Who knows. But can’t see him coming back anytime soon.

It's very different to Bale imo. Bale went to a Madrid team that became probably the best team in the world for years while he was there. This Bayern team though aren't that special, and are chopping and changing managers. In terms of financial clout we're gaining on Bayern quickly and aren't that far off their level of revenues.

I could be wrong of course but it wouldn't surprise me if he's regretting his decision to leave. Also none of the reports said he was desperate to leave, they said he was happy to stay or go.

Yeah I agree it’s different to Bale. But not that different. Kane may or may not regret his decision to join Bayern but I don’t see any reason why he would want to come back to us. From his perspective we’re probably the same team chasing fourth we always were, and that’s exactly what he wanted to get away from.

I think he was happy to stay with us this season because of his contract situation, but if he had wanted to stay long term he would have signed an extension.
