Gutted, when a player that's been so Tottenham for so long moves on. It feels like a part of the soul moves on. But you know that there will be others.

Could not be happier for him, and hope he smashes it over there and gets what he wants to out of it. Go and do it, legend.

I know there’s probably a good financial/legal reason for it, but intrigued how this 6 month loan with option to buy actually works in terms of us getting the €3-4m and the fact that his contract will be up in 6 months anyway so no need for the option….

I feel bad about the comment I made a few pages back and have deleted.

He gave his all for the club and that's all you can ask for.

I feel weirdly emotional about this, he's been a constant through all of that has been good in the club (and bad), always gave his all, never shied away, stood up for his team mates and family in the face of a lot of flack!

Great pro, and great servant to the club. Can't believe it's been that long since that WH goal.

Good luck to him.

I know it’s the right time for him to go, probably a couple of years too late. And I’m also massively excited about signing Dragusin. But right at this moment in time, maybe for today only, I’m sadder about Dier leaving than I am happier about Dragusin signing.

He was the heart and soul of this club under peak Poch. He always gave his best and he fucking beat up Chelsea football club almost all by himself during the battle of the bridge. I loved his relationship with Dele and I loved it when he backed his brother in the stands.

It was only within the last couple of years that he said he wanted to scatter his ashes at the Spurs stadium. He might well have changed his mind if he’s been reading some of the shit spouted against one of our most loyal players but let’s hope not.

He more than made up in loyalty and determination for what he lacked in quality in the latter years. For today and maybe tomorrow, I’m gutted he’s left. Then after that I can celebrate knowing that we’ve signed a top class replacement. Now let’s win some trophies!

Cheers Eric

One of my favourite Spurs players ever, partly because I always love the scapegoat but also he was perhaps the most emblematic member of what that Poch team was: a hard-working touch-battling group of good lads that were so, so close to immortality, which makes them even more endearing to me. Him, Dele, Harry, Jan, Hugo, Toby, Mousa - there's only Sonny left now, and it feels like he's writing a new chapter as the main man. Him and Hugo going really is the end of the best Spurs team in my lifetime, and whilst the deconstruction has taken too long, the good far outweighed the bad and I'd be lying if I wanted it taken apart faster. It was fun while it lasted.

Love you Eric. Always have, always will.

Last year or so turned sour, but I’ll never forget that interview after we smashed city, what so many of us thought and so many before him were too media trained to say, and perfectly encapsulated that time as a spurs fan. Fuck I miss those few years, I w slagged him off like many many others, it the guy has been here 10 years, and genuinely cared.

you could tell the mistakes he made hurt him, I’m sorry for the bad vibes towards the end Eric, but a truly heartfelt thank you, for being part of the best few years I’ve had as a spurs fan.

That interview, and Dele's "we can't keep doing this" after the United semi final defeat are two things I always feel define that side. Just two kids who really did care and gave it all they could, just wasn't to be.
