Counterpoint is that we and almost all fans underrated Prem experience, and tend not to value being able to pretty much eliminate the could-completely-fail-to-adjust factor for a prospective signing
I'd take him at 40m. Everyone keeps talking about starting 11 I think this season shows there's no such thing and you need strength in depth.

He brings league knowledge, goals and a lot of energy. I'd send out hojbjerg for 20 and sign him for 40 any day

We have 25 players (over 21) registered to play in the Premier League. 8 HomeGrown and 17 nonHG (17 being the max).

If we are indeed signing Drăguşin and Werner that's 2 more NHG players.

Presumably we will sell/loan out /deregister: Dier (NHG), Whiteman (HG, injured) and Perišić (NHG, injured).

We will be left with only one space, which must be HG, so someone like Gallagher makes sense. We only have space for another NHG if we also sell, say, Højbjerg.

Werner makes sense as a loan, giving us options. We also need to plan for Sarr and Udogie being in the registered 25 next season, so all the more reason to target one or more HG players- again, hence Gallagher.

(I'm assuming Reguilón and Spence do not get registered).

I really like him and reckon £40 million is a fair price, even better if we can get best part of half of that for PEH.

He's one of those players who always wants to be involved. Always on the move and looking to receive the ball or close down when out of possession.
He might not have one particular strength but I don't think he has any weaknesses either. A solid central all-rounder.

Already discounting Lloris, but yes good point. Either way, we'll be stacked on NHG and will ideally want to keep the door open for another NHG signing in the summer
Lloris was named in our 25 man squad, surely him leaving and potentially Dier, solves that problem. And we only sign a midfielder if one leaves

Ish. Doesn't fully solve the issue.

We had 25.
Assume Spence and Reguilón in and out and not registered.
Lose Lloris (16+8), Perišić (15+8) and Whiteman (15+7)
Add Werner and Drăguşin (17+7) 1 space left for an HG.

If we then also shift Dier or Højbjerg or say Gil we open a space (16+7).

But we add udogie and sarr next season (18+7 = 1 too many, and no wiggle room if a great NHG deal comes up).

Point being, it makes sense to target 1 HG player now if there's a good fit available.

P.S. I don't think Sarr can be HG. Looks like he signed on 27/8/21. And turned 21 on 14/9/23, so wouldn't have had 3 years at the club before turning 21. He was just shy of 19 when he signed. But I may have the details wrong on the 3 year rule.

They want 40 million for him. Money can be better spent

In the current market, hard to say I have seen far more money spent for less, Enzo and Caicedo for £100m have been worse, Gallagher has been excellent this season, one of Chelsea's few bright spots. Them selling him would hurt Chelsea and their fans hard but FFP is what it is and Boehly only has himself to blame.

Personally I think Gallagher would be a big upgrade on Hojbjerg and Skipp and increase our energy in the middle.

It will be worth it just for pissing off the whole Chelsea fanbase. Showing them they're now a small time club, and we can take their captain.
The fact that he will be a way better option than Skipp and Højbjerg is bonus.

We registered him when we sent him on loan. Same as Arse did with Saliba if im not mistaken

He is fine at 40m range, good player, would improve us and add depth and can start immediately. If we don't have the cash hopefully got alternatives like Ederson in Italy ready.

Yes. Bit needs a full 3 years, even including the loan back to Metz, which he cannot fulfil. Unless the 3 years before 21 includes being 21 (so is essentially 3 yrs before turning 22). We will have been a Spurs player for 2 years, 1 month when he turned 21 recently.

This is what Google says - Featuring on the list again in 2022/23 and now this season, the Senegal international will be classed as homegrown next term as he will have been registered as a Tottenham player for a period of three seasons before his 21st birthday or the end of the season in which he turns 21.

Agree, seems like we really have a very clear plan in place for once (but doesn’t surprise me as we have Ange who is clear and realistic in what he wants and we have a strong recruiting set-up), in past windows we’d be scraping to sign some journeyman cheap CB on the last day of the window and a ‘we tried’ attempt for someone we were never seriously interested in, this time round we’ve already agreed a fee for a much needed quality attacking option, are very close to hopefully agreeing for a top CB priority and we seem to have a plan for CM whereby if PEH likely leaves we pull the trigger on Gallagher who on top of Werner and hopefully Dragusin would be a window beyond my wildest dreams when it comes to Spurs and as I said in the ‘race for …” thread, sign a CB, ST/WF and a CM in Jan and we will be giving ourselves a very strong chance of top 4 and an outside chance of a title race.

Gallagher at £40 mil if we get say £20mil for PEH makes so much sense.

Just needs to be registered as a member of our squad. We could register him theoretically and send him out for his entire 16-21yrs and bring him back home grown if I'm not mistaken

I am not against us going for cheaper alternatives but I do think a lot of Spurs fan really underestimate Gallagher, he is a proper good player, his engine is huge. Him and Sarr would cover the box to box roles for a decade.

Completely agree, I think Gallagher is a really quality player, he showed it at Palace and he’s suit Ange's style of football down to the ground.

Premier League fans completely overrate Prem experience lol
