OK, its not deadline day yet, but we are lacking in so many areas that it is not realistic to expect that we will fill them all by tomorrow.

There is a lack of goals in the side already, hence the need for another striker. Added to that is it looks like VDV will be sold. Where will the goals come from next season? Only Ade and Bale find the net regularly out of the whole 1st 11.

If we don't sign Moutinho, who is going to be the playmaker?

The Kaboul injury has left a hole in defence. I'm not sure Dawson or Caulker are 1st team material yet.

But the most worrying thing of all is that we have lost one of our biggest advantages. Cover for every position. In the last few months we have lost...

Pav, Corluka, Pienaar and look to be selling Dawson, Huddlestone, JJ, Bentley, Naughton and Rose.

Weve no cover at centre back, on the wings, in either full back position or up front. The whole squad looks imbalanced like the Ramos days, and we know what happened then.

I wasnt the biggest HR fan, but at least he tried to have a healthy squad. I'm very worried for this season.

If we don't sign a striker and a proper replacement for modders, it will be grim indeed. We also do need a keeper. we're not quipped for a run at top four at all and AVB will not be happy if he thinks he's been brought here on a false premise.

This club is just fucking mad.

Hulk and Mountinho in and then that's only one trip for Levy. Sorted.

What's their keeper like while he's out there? ;)

Assumption is the mother of all fuck ups.

I don't see the point of complaining that their is no depth or certain players are going to be sold when THEY HAVEN'T BEEN SOLD YET.

I suggest to you not read the newspapers or internet as clearly you can't handle transfer speculation very well.

Levy isn't going to sell a player and not bring in a replacement for the departed.

And you comment that Dawson isn't 1st team material is pretty disrespectful. Dawson has been an established premier league player for 5+ years. If AVB moves him on, he will be snapped up by another PL club and be once again be a regular first team player (injuries permitting).

If Dawson is so great why are QPR and Sunderland the only clubs interested?

Cool. I'm excited for the season. Can't wait to see our boys go out and test themselves against the other teams and let the talking be done on the pitch rather than in the transfer market. I'm not worried about cover either and I'm looking forward to seeing some of our young prospects step up and prove themselves.

I think we dont have a consistent goal scorer upfront or on the wing, Bale may become that this season but he may not, both ade and Bale score in spurts of form, but sig as a goalscoring midfielder is good

No CB cover is a load of crap, we have a player in Caulker that both Man City and Liverpool are sniffing at, he is 20 and played over 100 games as a CB, this has not been achieved by any current english CB as well as 30 games for Swansea in PL and Dawson has always served us well

Naughton has just signed a new contract so I doubt he is going anywhere and he played lb for Norwich, Vertonghen can play at LB and so can Townsend, Also we have 4 fit CB's and and we can play 3 at back if we need as well as in desperate situations we can put Bale there

We also have Townsend for the wings as well as Gio(still here according to AVB and his agent said he has offers but is going to opportunities under AVB) as well as the option of pushing Sig to the wing

Also I dont see the advantage of having cover for every position if your never going to rotate like we didnt last season

I'd be more worried about the big scary monster that's in your bedroom. Oh, it's just your dressing gown hanging off the back of your chair....

If we sell Van Der Vaart who is 30 next Feb and give Defoe who is 30 in Oct a new 3 year contract in the same window then I really do worry about the direction this club is going and the quality of players it wants.

What like Berbatov you mean??? or did you actually count Frazier Campbell as a replacement?
What about Carrick??

Kranjcar, Modric & Pienaar have all been sold this window.
We got Dembele, but still 1 if not 2 short there.

We have let go of Saha, Pav and also Keane before that.... where are the replacements here?

Our squad's been too big for so long it seems we've got used to it. Trim the squad and we can pay the top players more money, so attract better players

As several have said, pointless having a huge squad if you don't use any of them, and most of those leaving are not in AVB's mould

I'd be more worried if Levy wasn't backing Villas Boas but he clearly is

I'll wait till end of window to judge to what extent he's succeeded

Presumably no ones offering £10m for Defoe

Same argument for Dawson/Gallas. We need to raise money, so those not seen as key can go at the right price

Like it or lump it, VDV is not a guaranteed starter under AVB

If he was Brendan Rogers he might call him a 'cover player'. But presumably he wants more money and assurances than Defoe

Couldn't this have just gone in one of the other million 'we're all doomed' threads rather than subjecting us to more doom and gloom breakfast food?

Yes it woukld be fuckin nice to sign a couple of great players today, we would all love that, but guess what even if we don't we still have a bloody good squad of players that most Premiership fans would cream themselves over!

Hold your horses for another 12 hours until we see what the squad actually looks like.

Kranj and pienaar both problems had less than 5 matches between them no great loss.

Same with saha and pav although pav may have played more under avb.

If we don't sign a goalkeeper I think we will struggle this season. If we do sign Lloris I think we will be up there in 5th or 6th unless someone like Sandro really pushes through this season.

No one is offering £ 10M for Bentley either, I am just not a huge fan of selling your best players while rewarding average players with longer contracts. Yes I know Rafael is still here right this minute but the Hamburg link is a very worrying one
