Mason is making a huge contribution, easily the best overall stats. Anyone who cannot see that is simply not looking or they don't know what they are looking at.
People keep banging on about how many trophies we have won, but they ignore the fact that only two clubs have won at least one trophy in each of the last 7 complete decades - us and United.
Mike England, Maurice Norman, two of our great CB's were fairly slow and suspect against nippy forwards. In Spain Fazio had a very high number of interceptions, a critical ability when a side plays a high line, he is tremendous in the air and he is a decent passer of the ball. And he gets stuck...
i keep reading comments about the size of our wage bill, but it strikes me that the presence of Mason, Bentalab, Kane and other home grown talents in the first 11 will have greatly reduced our costs, versus the days when the likes of Bale and VDV were running round the paddock .
the manager clearly prefers one up top, if we sign Bony or Benteke what happens to Kane. Kane is still developing and he needs game time. We also need to shift Ade and possibly Soldado. Ings is a better bet.
one of our prime problems is the inability of Chadli, Eriksen and Lamela to defend when we lose the ball, they are collectively hopeless. I would look at pushing Mason further forward, and partnering Capoue with Stambouli or Bentalab when fit.
No time to read the whole thread, would just like to state that Mason hit 29 in 31 games in one season for the Academy. Ifhe can stay fit we may see a late bloomer come good.
the team is missing a leader who can make others play by setting an example. in the 81 side the likes of roberts, ardiles, archibald and galvin hated losing. lamela, dier, lennon, kane and lloris look like sore losers. we need 11 players with that attitudeand will not to lose.
