Feel bad for Big Ange. As this is a unique situation. No one can plan around losing key players for such extended periods of time.
To the best of my understanding: Romero is out for two more games. Maddison, VdV, Solomon out to January. Sess out to Feb/March. Perisic out all season. Then you have AFCON and the Asia Cup to also work through.

I am not expecting miracles with such a thin squad in terms of quality. The best I can hope for is we can bag two or three wins by the January transfer window. Then hopefully bring in some much-needed depth, and some of the walking wounded will return. Then, we make a run at the top 6. I think it's realistically the very best we can hope for given the current situation.

And because we are Spurs - wouldn't be shocked if we lose one or two more over the international break.

The effing Chelsea game. Wow.
I read sess could be back for Villa?

You cant plan for all that no, but you can have at least 1 cb back up who actually suits the bloody system.

You’d have preferred we sold hojbjerg and got tosin than if we’d have just signed tapsoba?
Nope. Both scenarios can happen exclusively of each other. Would love both to happen, not preferring one to another. But missing out on both, I'm more gutted with Hojbjerg-Tosin swap didn't happen.

I get that ange wants us to be progressive, and play in a certain style.

However, we do need to calm it down at times. The 2nd goal v wolves, we shouldve stopped the quick free kick. Imo

It's a learning curve but the key thing for me is the players had the belief that they could go on and win. In the past how often would we have seen us drop deep early and the result be exactly the same?

It's been a tough week to swallow but I'm confident the way we are trying to play is right, it just doesn't always come off.

I think we would be fine with Bentancur in for Bissouma but obviously he's not fully fit to do it yet. Other than that I agree, the drop off for Udogie, VdV, Romero and Maddison is huge. 3 of those are new signings though so at least we've improved the first team this time. We just need more of the same to give proper depth and competition for places.
He shouldn't be far off it by the time we next play.

Absolutely, not like all those other unimportant games! :cautious:

I get what you mean, but every game is a "must win" game with the possible exception of City, Liverpool etc.

Surely you get the game against villa who is 1 place below is more important than most other games?

Is it? Every single game is meaningful, especially when things are tight.

The next few games below - which of these is less important?

I find it hard to suggest any game at this stage is crucial. I think we still have to just take it game by game. Keep developing the football we want to play under Ange. See where we are in the new year to get a good idea of what we can challenge for. We should be in or around top 6. Need to just take as many points as we can during this difficult period. We've given ourselves a good enough start to help though. However these injuries to VdV and Maddison are season defining. If they're not back by the time the AFCON and Asia Cup start we are essentially 3 months without at least key 2 starters. At the very least we may sign suitable competition for their places in January but that will still have been 2 months under strength. The expectation has to be lowered but we have shown that with our best 11 we can compete at the highest level. We'll just suffer beyond that 11 until we strengthen the rest of the squad.

If we start with a midfield of Bentancur, Sarr, Lo Celso I would feel a lot more confident that we will at least be fun to watch.
Yep if our Davies & Dier high line is going to get exposed we may as well play those 3 CM’s play some nice footy and try to win.

If it’s PEH & Skipp it’ll be 4-0 Villa

He IMO is doing an educational job with the squad and it would a mistake to change tactics when his ideas aren't yet fully bedded in.
Agree, but then Ange could take further and give Phillips & Dorrington a start if we in the development phase. I'd prefer that than keep rolling out same suspects that the club would happily get off the books if the offers are there. Get the homegrown on the pitch and gaining valuable experience.... Surely that's more beneficial...COYS😃
