Park played for Fergie in a CL final, he was more than just a ‘workhorse’ it’s not meant as an insult.

I rate and like Kulu & Richy and they suit Ange’s style as they work so hard. Someone like say Grealish for example who is a bit more creative but not as physical might not be quite as good in our system, I’d just like to see Kulu’s goals and assists increase a little that’s all.

I just disagree that he is ‘incredible’ at this point in time. For me, Bale, Ginola were incredible but Kulu isn’t there yet but is young and I agree has a lot of potential.
He's definitely not incredible.

I don't disagree that there's potential in him - but towards the end of the game he was very ineffective.

Needs to start threatening more IMO. Good potential. Not yet (though he may become) a great player

He's got an unusual skillset for a wide man. Not particularly agile, quick footed or pacey but seems to make chances using his strength and tenacity.

I wouldn't mind seeing him on the left and Johnson on the right. I just feel Deki might be suited to easing past the outside of the full back and delivering with his left foot.

Can’t fault his work rate and effort but today he was wasteful on attack and loose in possession. His sloppy pass in the second half could have let Fulham back into the game.

Needs to offer a lot more in my view.

Maybe he's lacking a bit of confidence? He seems too selfless, he works really hard and is often looking for that extra pass inside the box rather than just taking a quick early shot himself. We can't rely on just Son and Maddison to score all our goals and need the the wide forwards to find their killer instinct.

I thought his performance included excellent and poor contributions.

Some of the ways he maintained possession, using his body/balance/awareness, was nothing short of remarkable. One on the near touchline towards the end of the match, for example.

Similarly, he was way too selfless on at least two occasions (the first being the chance created by Romero), and gave the ball away in dangerous areas - one of which was off the back of the skill mentioned above.

Not worried about him in the slightest, and no doubt he'll be into double figures for direct goal involvements this season if he avoids major injury.

I am a huge Kulu fan but that was nowhere near his best game. Up against a very quick and strong full back and its not a bad thing to say he struggled a bit last night.
He seems to be a bit low on confidence infront of goal at the minute and I'd love to see one rocket in at some point.

However, even when not at his best his pressing and positional awareness is fantastic. He worked his absolute socks off last night and was absolutely shattered at the end of the game. A vitally important player to us but I'd also love to see us go out & sign another top quality left footed RW (Neto as a perfect example). The sheer amount of work our front 3 + Maddison have to do means that they are shattered by the 70min mark. Going forward, and especially so if we get CL, then we need 2 very good players per position for those front 4.

He's among the top chance creators in the PL this season. His work-rate and ball retention is excellent. But, yes, there is just a gloss in the the final third that is missing currently. He's rushing shots or passing when he should shoot. He needs to find a bit of clarity and confidence in his decisions.

Good shout and agree with your points, there was that time where he cut inside in the box and under Conte would've hit it in top bins but he passed it and the move broke down.

Think its pretty clear on the eye test how important he is creating chances for us and find this chart interesting.

Could definitely do with finding his finishing touch again from his first few months here though.

Becoming a little too predictable for me , beats a man and then doesn’t have the acceleration to drive forward , cuts back too often aswell even if he has space infront of him . I’m a fan but he has to deliver more , an average of 3 goals a season isn’t going to be acceptable for a forward in our team .

He had a great understanding with Bentancur. Possibly see an uptick in Kulu's production once he's reintegrated into the team again.

In last night's match thread people saying we can upgrade on Deki, is that a wide spread belief?
I'm genuinely surprised by this he is a quality player. He isn't flashy but there's a reason he's never taken off his work ethic is unreal. He has a great relationship with Porro on the right. He is also a very real option to go up front like he did against Luton if we need someone to hit up top and run a defence.
He is not lightning quick but he is so physically strong as a runner he gets away from defenders using his strength and skill.
There's a number of starters I would be looking to upgrade before him.

Which starter would you upgrade before him?

Richy obviously but then?

The ones I think we will not be able to upgrade on unless we get very lucky which can happen with some transfers would be vicario, Romero, Mickey, udogie, biss, Maddison and son. For me Deki and Porro are next who I think we would struggle to upgrade on. I really like Sarr and he could become a real box to box monster in a couple of years but just because of his age he's upgradable now not that I want him replaced as I love having a couple of good youngsters and he has a real high ceiling.

I dont know if we need to ‘upgrade’ him nessercarily but we could do with another pacey direct option like a Saka or Martinelli type. Obviously we have Johnson who is great, but we also have Richy on the left right now who tbh is also a bit of a weakness at times.

As I said the other day, Richy & Kulu both work very hard which is a key part of this style of football absolutely but I think that could could be a little better with the ball and we’d benefit from another option in the mould of a Doku or Saka or Martinelli or another Johnson type to help drive teams back and stretch the game.

Mitchell had no desire to get forward last night, which left no space for Deki. Without any space he really struggled, especially against a more athletic and quicker player in Mitchell. Johnson on the other hand was much more effective due to his pace and was able to run in behind on a couple of occasions and beat his man.

Absolutely this. Mitchell and the way Palace defended made it very hard for Kulu and nullified a player like Kulu.

He won’t come up against this type of defending and system every week but for me I think we still need at least one more upgrade in the wide areas.

Shame Perisic and Solomon are both out as they both offered something a bit different, although neither hugeee upgrades.

Let’s see how Gil does as if he can oust Richy then Johnson can play instead of Kulu on the right at times although I fear Gil just won’t quite be strong enough for that wide role. We shall see, Ange will know what to do about it all.

Id love to see Jota who went to Saudi league come to us, or someone like Nico Williams.
