What a difference a few hours make. Last I checked he was 100% going and now Trix says it's 50/50. Bloody hell this is going to go on till end of window isn't it

This all reeks so much of the Bale summer to me.

Think we'll end up doing 90% of our remaining business (both ins and outs) in the final few days of the window in a stupid rush.

Probably lose the first 2 games of the season as a direct result.

I’d still keep him for another year and lose him for free next summer. It’s not my money, and the club would only spunk that away on shit we don’t want anyway.
‘It’s not my money’ is the worlds worst argument on this topic.

We still need to have the money to spend - it makes sense

We’ll be fine without him, and we can reinvest it. Just get it done

Just cannot see it happening if that’s the case, really don’t see that gap being bridged this late in proceedings
I'm sure that it was £20 million earlier. Going up by the hour.

What did they bother coming over for lol

At this point it really just doesn't add up for me. In my twisted mind I've already made up that they've agreed on a price but Levy would go so far out of the way to say that they have to take a little bit of beating in the media if they want to get this done lol. Why in the world would they fly over, would Levy agree to meet, and for their reporters to still say it's positive. But what do I know lol

If you remember Bale era I remember a bunch of signings popping up, a few rumors of there's a chance we keep Bale and we invest in the squad around him - then off he went lol

Bear in mind it's possible they meet halfway, which is much more realistic. Obviously Levy, but still.

Also possible they have agreed and keeping it quiet while we sign some bloody defenders.

Hearing they haven't increased their bid, and they will have to if they want this done. Looks like they are so used to just bullying teams into submission which for all his faults won't happen with DL. They know what they need to do now put up or shut up.

Thought he was 100% gone last night, now I'm 50/50.
Well this time it’s good to hear DL is being stubborn, the way BM have gone about this has been embarrassing. I just really struggle to see them raising their offer by 20/25 mil. Throwing in Tel would certainly make a lot of sense at this point but that isn’t going to happen even if he was willing to come.

How convenient that Bayern are about to sell Mane for £25m...

Maybe they're waiting for that to be confirmed before raising their bid.

Fucked if I know the answers, to be honest but I don't think we can include either Porro or Kulu in this window's incomings.
Sorry - but this is how it works.

From a practical standpoint it's not much different, because we are not spending that money in cash - but only a portion. But, what gets left out when people think like this - we are still spending cash on transfer for the last 3-4 windows - not just this window.

So, what gets budgeted - and why the terms of the payment structure are so heavily negotiated - what are the cash payments, and when are they due - and how do they measure up against projected cash inflows for that period. Its not helping that we are going to budget for lower revenue as a result of missing out on Europe.

So after all that, big bad Bayern flew over to negotiate face-to-face and didn't actually raise their offer at all?

How embarrassing...

Yeah that’s why wrote if, because who knows how true stuff is. Do think it’s quite a big gap to bridge even with meeting halfway tbh.

I suppose one hope is after today Bayern will at least realise Levy's serious and won't get bent over like most of the German clubs do when they come calling.

If, as reported, they are keen to get this resolved sooner rather than later they'll either have to start increasing their bids soon or walk away.

And if they don't walk away or start getting linked to other forwards within a couple of weeks, that implies they are indeed willing to significantly increase their bid (although I still doubt they'll pay the full asking price).

Bayern are so used to bullying teams, mainly in their own league over transfers, they're not used to teams standing firm and saying no.

Pretty sure thats why it's been thrown all over the media about todays "meeting". It's all them trying to bully their way into us selling on their terms.

Glad we are standing firm.

The Times reports that Bayern are ready to bid £85m (constituted in what way, can't see as it's paywalled) Ornstein says they are ~£25 million out which suggests we are valuing Kane at £110m, and that points to a potential meeting point of £100m, which is pretty much what we've thought would be an acceptable offer from day 1.
