Dont' think we will struggle personally, we have a lot more quality than most teams.

Will probably be the occasional game we get suckered though.
Where is that optimistic rating again!!!!

How many games do you think we’ll ‘get suckered’ (be the better side, have more possession & shots & lose) this season???

Kane and Son firing in this team is going to be crazy. Best keep Kane of course but also Richarlison will do well with this type of service. It's a lot more like what he's used too with Brazil.

Not too concerned about defence given Reguilon and Tanganga are about 3rd choice anyway. Even our 1st choice isn't good enough so that was to be expected with those 2 starting.

Reminiscent of when BMJ took over from Santini and the shackles were removed. Entertaining and encouraging.

Now PLEASE get Tapsoba and VDV in and we will cause teams serious problems this season.

For us to go on a run in PL to compete for top2 or 4, we need to beat the teams that we should be beating in the pyramid. For that, this fast paced 70% possession style will suit perfectly. This is how we use to play in the final season at lane. If we can replicate this week in week out, we will be winning those 3 points more consistently.
Not with our current defenders…..

I honestly don’t know why people say they would sell Romero it’s baffling. He is literally in a back line with severe holes in it.

Only saw the highlights but it looked like fun. Plenty of positives. Bissouma, Udogie, Devine, Solomon, Porro, Maddison, Sarr all looked decent. LoCelso showed what he's about. The biggest plus though is that it is so blatantly obvious that we need 2 decent CBs or everything else is a waste of time. 3 shocking goals conceded. Get your fucking cheque book out Baldy!!

I see where you're coming from but I don't think we can solely rely on Maddison for a full season to be the main creative outlet. Having GLC, especially if he performs like he did today, can only make us a stronger team. I'd say we should look to sell PEH to raise funds for a new CB as we have Skipp, Sarr and Bissouma who can do what PEH does but neither of them really do what Maddison or GLC do.
I would also be curious to see Gio and Maddison in the same midfield, maybe if we were more defensive with our choice of full backs. I think they could complement each other nicely and one is left footed and the other is right.

If Gio can stay fit and we can convince him to stay here, he could be a huge asset.

Also watching how good Devine and Sarr already are at their age is wonderful.

I know we all agree we need 2 CBs but after this I actually wonder if we should scrap searching for another midfielder and instead actually go for another winger but someone who is more comfortable on the right with real elite pace and dribbling ability.

We have Son and Solomon for the left but we only have Deki for the right. I'm not sure Gil wants to be here and I'm not sure he is quick enough and two way enough with his dribbling to be the other RWF option.

I'm thinking Diaby, Olise or Chukwueze if we want a left footer or Doku or Nico Williams as they're both also comfortable on either flank.
Spot on.

Priorities to bring Ange's style of football fully to life:
1. 2x top CB's
2. Top class RW with pace and goalscoring ability
3. Keep Lo Celso and/or sign another CM

Other:
- Keep Kane (if not then sign a replacement)
- See if the current full-back options can be 'coached-up'. My guess is that Udogie will become our starting LB with Reguillon and/or Davies as back-ups and at RB it will be interesting to see who Ange prefers between Porro,Spence and Emerson. Realistically I doubt this transfer window we will sign a new full-back but in time I do wonder if some of these players such as Porro who is really a wing-back, can he be coached into a back4 defensively (I have no doubt about Porro and Spence and Reguillon going forwards but can they improve enough defensively and/or if we sign 2 top class CB's and we improve as a team in time to dominate games then will the lack of posession and chances the opponents get counterbalance enough against the lack of defending ability the likes of Porro and Reggi have), will be very interesting over time how Ange sees this.

Would be so nice to watch, proper Tottenham style 2 midfielders there :) but yea the balance would be need to be found overall, perhaps Emerson at RB over Porro and a more defensive n.o6, hard to say but would love to see it.

One thing I meant to mention during the match - I think Ange has also changed our approach to throw-ins - for the better.

I have long been a critic that we are collectively terrible at keeping possession with throw-ins, but today it seemed like we were focusing on getting quick throws in, no matter who picked up the ball.

I agree absolutely but it goes with the territory when you play this wonderful attacking football that there will be games when you come off at the end wondering how the hell you didn't win that game, my point isn't so much that but rather that it's a sensation we've not known for a few years so we'll have to get used to it.

Following could be unpopular opinion

1) Porro is my 2nd choice RB. Emerson starts. I didn’t want us to buy Porro but now that we have I would be open to selling him in Jan or next summer if he doesn’t improve defensively

2) Romero needs a kick up his backside. I am not saying bin him but he needs to up his game big time. Since WC end , most here been making excuses for some of the mistakes he has committed. I expect more from him - hope he pushes himself to to better. What I saw in first half wasn’t good enough…that lack of organization for that 2nd goal was attrocious

3) I would play Davies in LB and probably start him initially and slowly bed in Udogie. He is lacking defensively at times but he needs time to work on it himself. I hope he isn’t pushed too early and pressured

Reguillon, Tanganga, Sanchez showed they arent good enough. Goes to Immediate sell list, if they weren't already.

Porro too seems a liability defensively.

Emerson, Udogie made a great case for themselves for starting XI. Ben - solid as usual was good.

Romero was bit meh today.

Devine was brilliant & fluid, was probably better than Kulu playing in similar position.

Porro should be the Deki back up in the right forward position if you ask me…

Against Leicester - I'd like to see this starting XI:

Vicario
Royal Romero Davies* Udogie
Bissouma
Maddison Lo Celso
Kulu Kane Son

*its a weak spot, but someone has to play

I'd like to see what Ndombele can do, and I think Sarr earned some more minutes. May even be tempted to give Porro some minutes at RW, and let Spence come in to play at RB in the 2nd half.

Totally agree with you on this. Got to get two in. I understand the argument of we need to sell and there’s no reason why this cannot be done. The money in the kitty from selling the following:

Nbombele
Lo Celso
Sanchez
Tanganga
Reggie

That’s 5 that could get sorted, perhaps add a few more to that list.

I hope behind the scenes they are getting the two CBs sorted (not Lenglet please not him)
Based on people's feedback from today I don't think we should be quick to sell Lo Celso and i'd want to see Ndombele play first, mostly because I doubt we'll get any real money for him.

Players that can go now for me are:
Sanchez
Tanganga
Reggie
Perisic
PEH
I reckon we should be able to get £50m from those players.

Ones that we need to see more of before fully assessing are:
Dier
Davies
Rodon
Lo Celso
Ndombele
Gil
I reckon we should be able to get at least £30m from say half of those players. Rodon + Lo Celso + Gil for example would likely be closer to £50m.

That gives us £80m+ to go out and get VDV and Tapsoba.

Romero was a bit slow and ponderous in possession, but that’s kind of a trait of his. Maybe due to lack of movement. Kane dropping as he has done, was just making everything congested, Richarlison (although a few offsides) made their defence worry about the ball in behind, therefore giving LoCelso that space to work in, Maddison had no space.

Great points, can certainly see why you think point 1 & 2.

As for point3, Udogie is a big boy and I think Davies will get exposed in a high line as a LB as he did under Mason against Brentford big time end of last season so I'd rather Reggi and Udogie are our 2 LB's but Reggi needs work defensively.
