💯 get both in before the pre season tour and then focus on outgoings, then bring in 2-3 more towards the end of the window.

If we signed both our best 22 would be something like:

Vicario
Forster

Porro
Emerson

Romero
VDV
Tapsoba
TBC 4th CB from whoever we can’t sell.

Udogie
Sess or Reguillon or Davies?

Bentancur
Bissouma
Skipp
Sarr

Kulu
Gil

Maddison
Lo Celso or Ndombele?

Son
Solomon

Kane
Richy

Some squad that, I’d argue we’d ideally need a LB and CM and possibly another versatile AM to upgrade on say Sessengon,PEH and Ndombele but point is by signing VDV and Tapsoba before the tour we’d only then need about 2-3 more signings so could focus hard on outgoings for a few weeks.
As good as that looks on paper I still think we need a top drawer defensive midfielder like Lavia, (I know looks pool bound).
I rate YB and Skipp, but they haven’t ticked that box for me, if PEH is off I hope we bring a top quality DM to
replace him,.
No denying our defenders had a shocker last season but the midfield could have done a lot more to stem the flow of goals we conceded I think.

Hopefully, if that twat Xhaka ends up going there it might put a bit more pressure on Leverkusen to generate cash from elswhere.

Lavia ain't that, he's a young kid learning the game. Maybe Amrabat, as he is a top drawer dm.

But this is exactly why our projects always fall flat on their face. 1 good CB isn’t anywhere near enough when the other good CB we have is an injury risk.

Two good CB’s along with Romero is potentially transformative. It means our midfield can press safe in the knowledge they have good cover. Saliba far more than Jesus helped transform Arsenal.

if at any moments next season we have to significantly call on Dier it’s a huge weakness to be exploited by every team we play.

Pretty sure we'll give it a go. Tapsoba looks like a leader and a calming influence which is absolutely essential. At least if we sign VdV we've been decisive and not missed the boat completely.

Yeah I think we will. If we can shift 3-4 defensive players quickly we’ll go back in for him.

ITK have said there's interest in a few which gives me a bit of hope.
Yeah same. A fair few of them are very cheap and on low wages so it does help.
Regs is my worry to shift but I’d actually rather him stay over Davies if I’m honest. Davies got badly exposed at LB at the end of the season

Absolutely agree, Reg is also younger. Davies was woeful back end of last year. We need 2 CB's but we also need to make sure they are not going to be exposed by our full backs

Everyone was woeful last season, and with Dier next to him anyone would probably look shite! I think Davies has quietly been one of our most consistent performers in our side over the last however many years.

Bar kane, Everyone was woeful post world cup.

Prior to it, Dier played OK. People felt his england call up was deserved.

We have recently found out that dier and son were playing through injuries. This may have been a contributing factor.

Davies has looked poor the last year. Had some good games at wingback where he was able to roam forward and not defend so much. Other than that he's been at fault for a number of goals. If we could get Tapsoba and VdV I would sell him with the others. Use VdV at left back or centre back in his place. Possibly even Lenglet as a 3rd signing on a free as back up with Tapsoba able to cover right centre back too. Its the one area we need a proper clear out.

Dier has always had patches where he looks serviceable.
He however isn’t consistent and doesn’t suit a back four.

But as I've said most the team looked poor, particularly our defence, and I'd rather he stay, being a decent player, good squad player that doesn't whinge, and can fill a spot on the bench. With Udogie coming in, alongside possibly Lenglet too, I think the backup for the left side is sorted with just a first choice to come in.

He played in a back 4 under Jose, and did well 1st half of the season under him. There is a consistent theme, starts well, then tails off in the season.

That doesn't mean we should keep him. I think we can improve, but the level of disrespect he gets from spurs fans is sad to see.

I’m not disrespecting him? A lot do however.

He has never kicked up a fuss and in all honesty I’d rather he stayed than Rodon, Japhet or Sanchez
