I think Tapsoba is the one to get and we shouldn't be compromising on that one.

Van de Ven looks a real prospect so I'd be happy to see him come in, but I don't think he immediately improves us as much as Tapsoba does. As others have said the ideal move would be to get both and have VDV2 as backup LCB and LB option. LB might be a good way to introduce him to the PL.

Could be possible if you shift 2 out of Reggie, Sess and Davies, on top of Sanchez and Perisic.

Im hoping we sign both tbh as I don't think de Ven is at the required level yet. With the amount of injuries Romero gets Tapsoba could cover for him with Ven stepping in to the left spot. I would be surprised tho that neither is HG considering we were linked to a few options from the PL.
Seen very little of Van De Ven myself, any chance that he could play as an inverted full back?

sorry if already mentioned but maybe due to AFCON for Tapsoba we’ve decided to go for this guy instead. Is AFCON still in the middle of the season these days?

This kind of feels like the Vicario moment in the Raya saga. Tapsoba deal is too much for what we want to spend so we’ve ditched it and moved on. I don’t think that’s necessarily a bad thing at this stage. I’d ideally like both, but it’s vital that we get at least one tied up and it’s clear we want out main business done before the tour.

His pace would be useful in a high line system, could also help Udogie who is still inexpirienced and save us at times, plus it's useful in attack as well. I'm more excited about Tapsoba though, but this one would be fine too.

This seems like the ‘Vicario option’ if Bayer don’t budge on Tapsoba’s(Raya option) fee.
I must say if he comes in as our primary CD i'd be a little concerned. He looks like a very good prospect from what i've seen but he still looks a little raw in the matches I've watched and the idea of him playing next to Udogie makes me feel nervous even if his pace can get him out of sticky situations. As our second of two CB i'd be very very happy, but as our primary option i think we could well see some growing pains.

If this is how we’re operating this summer I’m there for it.

We have our first choices, if it’s going to drag all summer with moving goalposts and only has a 25% chance of happening then onto our next target.

Better to get our 2nd choices than spend all summer chasing our 1st choices, not getting them and then finding out only our 5th or 6th option is available with 2 hours left in the window.

I know it's just one stat, but it stood out to me. Top speed (km/h) in Bundesliga last season:

1. Adeyemi - 36.65
2. Sheraldo Becker - 36.57
3. Alphonso Davies - 36.53
4. Moussa Diaby - 36.52
5. Leroy Sane - 36.3
9. Micky van de Ven - 35.97
21. Timo Werner - 35.47
152. Edmond Tapsoba -33.68

Obviously take with salt, Tapsoba could just be more in control, but just further reenforces that the raw attributes are there. Would be helpful in the high line

Wonder how our supporters will take this:

- Tapsoba is the ready made option. 2 years older, more experience, and better statistically output than van de Ven
- Leverkusen (I mentioned it in Tapsoba thread) may be a little tougher to deal with due to links to Tah, Frimpong, and even Diaby. They'd probably want a huge fee or we'd need a quick deal struck before any of those players move.

- I think van de Ven it could be argued has the higher ceiling? Still a bit raw (as shown in this thread) but could become a natural LCB for many years to come.
- Being branded as "cheaper" option lol

Think we need him and Tapsola personally as our centre back options were atrocious last season.

Even then I’d say we need to keep sniffing around centre backs as need a fourth as just wouldn’t trust Dier and Tanganga, having shown very early promise has absolutely fallen off a cliff.

It's one of two. Either Levy is doing everything to keep Kane, or already is spending Kane money.
I’d hope it’s the former.

The stadium was supposed to be the game changer according to levy and with all this events that have been running as well as the profits on match-day surely we should be able to afford this?

Shift out the deadwood, get the essentials in then we can calm down in future windows, like Liverpool did that summer they splashed out for Fabinho, Keita, Allison and I think VVD the January window before?

I've got a sneaky feeling we might get him & Tapsoba
I think its more likely 1 and Lenglet then maybe outside chance of another to compete with Romero. It seems Tapsoba is less likely due to other sales and therefore we're pushing along this one.

I wish they started tracking sprint times for the first 10-20 metres. So much more relevant in football

Hopefully if Tapsoba is off table it’s VDV2 and Tosin. VDV2 alone would be extremely exciting long term, but not enough straight away.

I know he played LB a few times this season but I didn't see any of those games unfortunately. From what i've seen i'd say its a bit of a stretch as I don't think he has the technical ability on the ball (yet) to be what would essentially be a midfielder, as that is where inverted FB tend to sit when in possession. Not that he isn't comfortable on the ball or have passing ability, its just there is a jump between the roles when it comes to required ability on the ball, but as i said ive only seen a handful of games so I wouldn't dare say he cant for certain.
