I get what people are saying about the state of the academy but the repair job needs to start somewhere. We’ve lost several youngsters because they saw no path to the first team, no hope of going on loan either.

We need to give talented youngsters a reason to come here and a reason to stay.

Happy everyone's excited, but sounded like pretty standard stuff, right down to mentioning how fantastic the club is...twice. not a knock, but it's hardly stand up and salute material.

Patience is needed, I’m sure we’ll see a different Richy next season.

He got injured, played out of position, went to the world cup had an absolute Stormer, then got injured again.

It's not been the ideal start, and yes he hasn't scored goals, but his pressing, link up play, and attitude have all been fantastic.

Fingers crossed he gets a few more opportunities in his preferred positions. I think he's still got a lot to offer us.

There's only going to be a few academy players good enough for the first team playing largely league games. We need a solid 20 man senior squad with a few academy players on top. In the long run we need to improve that number but we're a long way off that atm. We've had very few filter through for a while now.

No update on his coaching staff yet then? Read that he doesn’t usually take his staff with him to new clubs, which is quite surprising/unique…

I also think the embarrassing criticism he’s had from so-called fellow pros will only spur him on.

He does not hide, regardless of his form.

I'm actually fine with this if:

• You judge Ange on attacking football, movements, etc. and not results. The long contract is a good start
• Actions speak louder than words, would love to see our "back ups" be filled with young, hungry players that are signings and our academy. Example: If (BIG IF) we were to sign Maddison, his cup game/rotation player should be Devine. Just using an example but would love to see motivation for preseason for Parrott, Scarlett, Gil, Devine, Craig, Abbott, and co.
Don't know about not judging on results.

I read here that the Celtic staff that wanted to follow him have all been blocked from moving. He also seems to want to utilize staff already in place. I suspect Mason'll leave for a manager role somewhere but hopefully, we'll still have Gianni Vio and Matt Wells (who I've read is supposed to be highly rated, no?).

Great research and thank you for doing this. It seems the search continues for someone who unconditionally dislikes this guy!
BTW why has someone rated this off topic when it is literally about Postecoglou? People do that a lot on this forum and it confuses me.
I assume it's just fat fingers.

I think Devine will excite Postecoglou. He'll be 19 by the time the season kicks off.

Weirdly enough, if given the opportunity, I think Harvey White will be another U23 player who can impress Ange. Clever player, great versatility, good technical ability and also good set piece taker. Would love to see what Ange makes of him during pre-season.

Easy saying "trust the academy" but the older age group is not great because the academy has been neglected for quite a while, and under who's watch may add.

When you constantly change the direction of the club by employing managers with completely different philosophies you end up with a fucked up squad full of mismatched players, again under who's watch.

This is just lip service imo because he knows the hardcore want to see more home grown players but the fact is that's not going to solve our problems in the short term. Only spending money will!

He's just trying to push the blame away from himself once more.
Giving a chance to players like Mundle instead of bringing on a declining Lucas as a sub would have been a start.

Agree with the sentiment though we never have been that comfortable in games to let the academy players have a go.

Got to be brave at some point. Maybe one of them would have taken chances our more experienced players wouldn’t. But we were so negative we never got far enough ahead and so scared of not trusting someone to do the job when we were in tight games.

Next season will definitely be different.

But we knew Lucas wasn't good enough yet still played him. Lucas was also playing for the U23s towards the end of the season and Mundle was out performing him, so there is no excuse.

Trust the Academy is the new Trust the Process

These quotes from Levy, and the accusations to which he is responding, are a great example of the problem with the most of the conversation about the club/manager/Levy/transfers/etc. Feelings and complaints are expressed in oversimplified extremes, which are easy to counter. (Some) fans complain the club has not backed the managers. The club easily dismisses, saying this is incorrect. Which is true. They have backed the managers... but there are caveats. Because for every Perisic, there's also a Spence.

The question to the club shouldn't be "why haven't you backed the managers?", it should be "why do we waste limited funds on players the manager doesn't want - compounding the problems with the squad? ".

Would be funny if Postecoglou arrived for preseason dressed as a bogan.

And just to piss some of you off, we could call his football 'Boganball'

Will be interesting to see which full backs he uses next season, as he's got 3 currently on each side
