Not panic...just an observation. I'm sure we'll still sign good players just seems like Pararici lacks a clear plan. We knew we wanted position xyz in summer & even more so in January yet seemingly jumped from position to position and target to target. I think it's improved slightly at the start of this summer due to Conte's demands but seemingly back to the erratic/impulsive or opportunistic approach now.
What's erratic? We want a forward, rwb, lwb, midfielder, lcb and a creative mid. We got a lwb and a midfielder and our top targets for lcb are unfortunately very difficult deals.

Anything more than this is just speculation, there haven't been any serious links to anyone else, more than "Tottenham are interested"

Honestly there's no point shitting yourself just yet. Wait for some confirmation UK side about where his preference lies before throwing the toaster in the bath.

What I don't get is why there is so much more noise around Arsenal's bid for him and not ours. I know we have been mentioned a bit, but we seem to be a bit of a footnote, it's all about Arsenal in for him big time. Makes me think their goign in more aggressively where maybe for us he's just one of the options....
put my money on either Arsenal leaks to show intent and/or the media knowing they can get more clicks on stories/tweets talking about Arsenal’s intent.

Still have all the confidence in the world that even if they sign both Raphinia and Jesus, any team that turns up and bullies them a bit and plays a physical game will stand at least a 50% chance of beating them.

Look at the Palace game, look at the Newcastle game, there’s a few others too. Speedy talented forwards sure (and that’s if they actually sign them) but they still have a shot mentality, and a poor manager who won’t install a better one.

They will look pretty going forward, but can still be absolutely rolled over. I think if they do sign both, I’ll just make myself feel better by knowing that our entire squad is still stronger. I wouldn’t switch any player in our first eleven for any of theirs to be honest.

Perisic or always injured Tierney? Would you clearly want Gabriel or White over Romero or Dier? Would you swap out midfield for theirs? I wouldn’t.

Honestly, let’s start panicking when they a.) actually sign these players, b.) Sack the cone boy and get a decent manager in, and c.) develop a mentality where you don’t fancy them to get rolled over by anyone who stands up to them.

Only Arsenal are not City
And Arteta is not Pep

Arteta trying to mould Arsenal into a mini-City will be his failing.

Yeah, I'm not saying Arsenal are going to win multiple league titles.

But they will definitely be challenging us if they have Raphinha, Saka, and Jesus.

A monkey could manage them and that front 3 would still blow away most teams.

Agree they will thrash few teams for sure. But in all seriousness, they will get found out time & again, if this is how they are going to line up.
I dont know who we will bring through here on in - but if the squad as of today goes into season, I am convinced we will finish above them comfortably.

As for as Raphinha - if he isnt going to Barca, and if both Arsenal & Spurs bid equally - IMO, he will be making a big mistake if he opts for Arsenal...especially given Saka plays predominantly in the RW anyway

As in we believe in the deal we are offering should be enough to convince all parties he only goes there if the blow us out on wages
I mean, they'll probably throw all the wages at him to get one over us & they like throwing wages around too.

Doesn't really look like anything has changed to me. Seems like it'd be pretty easy as a journalist to drop a 'deal getting closer' tweet/story to rack up engagement without actually saying very much at all.

Has there been any credible links with Sterling? I can't see a thread on him, but Football London posted a story (albeit it was more opinion based). If Leeds are holding out for £65m and Sterling is set to leave for £35m, I'd be surprised if we hadn't explored it.

Surely with us having CL, we could compete with Arsenal on wages...surely....

I mean he'd be a huge signing...you don't pay 60 million for a player and not offer that calibre of wages

We can but they have history of paying over £300k a week for players (Ozil, Sanchez, Auba) where we don't yet. I think Kane can get near that after bonuses but we'd be ripping up our wage structure for it.

That said at some point we do need to elevate our wage structure again, we'll soon have the highest turnover in London.

I always wondered what would happen if a Pep side didn't have league best players in each position. Guess we'll find out soon enough. Arteta is trying to copy them with players that have probably 70-80% of the ability.

Could be enough for top 4 but don't think it gets near a title challenge. Whereas I think with the right signings Conte could. I think a big part of that is Son and Kane being a level above anything they have.

I'm not sure Jesus is capable of leading a line. So not a group that overwhelms me personally. I really like Raphinha but he would be our 4th best forward option realistically.

They're both great. It's really annoying

Jesus Nketiah
Martinelli Smith Rowe
Saka Raphinha

is great depth and quality for a front 3.
Great squad (for 5-aside) - shame about the rest of the side :ROFLMAO:

I’m not saying it’s over for us and Raphinha, but there’s a ton of good wide forward players out there. Probably ones that are better and would cost the same or even cheaper. We are obviously paying a premium for the PL experience, and if we get him that’s fantastic, but I’m not going to feel like it’s some huge shift in the power balance if Arsenal sign him.

I think that’s exactly what it is.

Objectively, if he was a priority target, I think we’d get him.

We’re frequently referenced as an after thought.

My guess is there are other players we want more. Not necessarily better players, but players who will add more to the squad because of where they play, what they’ll bring, and the price we can get them for.

It’s a cost benefit thing, and my guess is we’ve decided that he’s not worth 65m to us.

I might be wrong, but that’s my hunch
