If I look at the stats we definitely weren’t outshot 22-4. That was last year’s game, which undermines your point just a tiny bit. If you could see the difference in intent with the lead between this and countless games last season I don’t know what to tell you
Would also point out we didnt stop attacking when we went ahead which was a problem under Mourinnho ,hence the loss of so many late points last year.

We saw a Tottenham team yesterday start slow and grow into the game and got stronger as the game progressed. City missed good chances to go ahead but we stuck firm and defended with pride and effort. The pace going forward was superb form every player. City's strength on the flanks was nullified. Pace, discipline and team spirit were our strongest assets yesterday. Its not about fancy football or dominating games, Its every player wanting to be sucessfull, all playing together, all singing from the same page. Every player should have equal standing. Its hard in football to play against a team with high spirits because they keep going regardless. City's mood deflated longer the game went on.

Interesting that people are happy for Kane to leave and it seems like this is the case even more now since we won yesterday and the front 3 looked fluid but this isn't always going to work, we're not always going to play on the counter attack.

Some matches we're going to need a focal point up front, when you have defenders like Rudiger\Varane pressing up against our strikers Kane is the perfect players to relive pressure and hold the ball up.

What are you on about? We beat City 2-0 at home last season under, yeah, Jose Mourinho.

We got fucking battered last year but somehow scored 2. This time we fought for absolutely everything. There's so much more to it than the scoreline. Nuno, in his first game, got us playing as a team in a way Mourinho didn't manage once.

Oddly there are some people who think we can do without Kane's goals and assists from now on. Kane has averaged 31.4 goals over the past five seasons. Where is that sort of goal return going to come from if he leaves?

Tactics similar to Conte with side triangles. Similar to Jose where one FB drops deeper and other has more attacking freedom (possible thanks to Dele and Bergwijn covering for Regi).

Some, much like myself don't want a player around the club who has been unprofessional and is pushing for an out. I was a big Kane fan for years but since that random Neville interview and then this whole return mess, he in my view should get out. Well for the right price at least,

We will just have to change and adapt and move on much like before.

The best part of that performance was watching Tottenham fall into their defensive pattern when Mac City had the ball.
The front 3 were around the half way line all in tight near the circle with the 3 behind filling whatever needed to be filled. Man City had no option but to go out wide which was clearly Nuno's plan... We handled that pretty well.
The other enjoyable aspect was the clear direct transition from defence to attack. We didn't mess about with it much at the back but looked to get it forward quickly.
Both of these aspects meant there was less chance of mistakes at the back, as our 2 CB's were not under constant pressure and therefore less like to make mistakes.

I enjoyed watching the training sessions through the week where they play one touch football, and I could really see it playing out on the field... This can only get better, and with an obviously fitter and sharper team with what seems like a great team spirit, I feel this will be a good year.

How could Harry not want to play for us :)

It was just nice to see a team who looked like they had been coached properly in defence and attack. I said during one of the pre season games it was nice to see us attacking with patterns of play and with a front three who actually looked like they’d been training to attack together and today was the same. People May say not to get too excited because it is only one game but in fact it isn’t, we’ve been playing similarly all summer. I think Nuno has used preseason with this game in mind for sure. What now happens when we have to take the game to teams a bit more will be interesting.

After all the supposed doom and gloom and negative dark cloud that was hanging over the club a few months ago I certainly didn't see it at the stadium yesterday, looked the total opposite to me. Dare I say that things are looking up now?

Togetherness, work rate and a clear plan of how we intended to play was very evident yesterday.

Honestly, sometimes keeping things clear and straightforward is what players and an effective team need.

Have a very good feeling about Nuno going forward.

Interesting if this is true, from bluemoon:

"We created 2.24 xG yesterday and Spurs had a clean sheet.

Man United created 1.16 xG against Leeds and had 5 goals"

Goes to prove what utter shite xG is/can be, on the basis that ours was 1.08 - despite the Bergwijn chance and the clearance off the line from Lucas, etc.

Have to also say that the City away support was absolute dross. Pathetic. 18 months away and they piped up maybe 3 times???

Our support today was absolutely electric from start to finish

And when they sang (quietly) "Have you ever seen Tottenham win the league?" that made my blood boil.
I don't mind it from Arsenal, Man Utd, Liverpool and Leicester but I'm not having it from City nor Chelsea who have bought their titles.

"No I haven't but I have seen Man City in the 3rd division" isn't very catchy but would be a decent response.

Let's get the violin out for poor Man City. Oh hang on a sec let's not. What next for chequebook Pep? Will he now be putting in a derisory double bid for Son and Kane whilst at the same time claiming they're not breaching FFP rules, and will Bluemoon be whinging that we should be grateful for their offer and that we're keeping them both as prisoners.

Didn't we all love it ? COYS.....

So many positives from the first game under a new coach. The players looked well drilled, didn't panic after a tough opening 10 mins and they are so much more confident than last year.
Dier and Sanchez in particular looked like new men. Within the first few mins, Sanchez accepted the ball in a tricky position and remained relaxed, tried to play out but couldn't so he calmly lifted the ball down the line towards Moura. I just didn't see that last year; the fear factor meant he would have stumbled &/or hoofed it up the other end.

The fitness and desire was really impressive too. City only really came to life when behind, before that they looked their usual arrogant self and assumed a matter of time before they scored. But in those nervy last 10-15 mins we worked so hard and threw ourselves into tackles. We had so much desire than the opposition and, at this level, that makes a huge difference.

Same way every other team in the history of football has scored their goals without having Harry Kane?

And I should also point out that despite his goal haul no team with Harry Kane in it had ever won a trophy.

It's not like we won't be getting 140m to replace him with.

PEH as we know is an absolute beast, the way he geed everyone up in the tunnel, his constant talking to the young guys in Tanganga and Skipp , and pressing Mendy at every chance like he could smell he was the weak link. With him to learn from Skipp is going to be an animal.

Tactics from Nuno was spot on, narrow front three meant less line breaking passes, anything out wide we were comfortable with. Watching City wander around aimlessly with the ball and then hoofing it into the box was a joy to behold.

Above all the mentality was immense.
