He wasn't.

Eriksen, Chadli, Lamela, Chiriches, Soldado, Paulinho, Capoue

Eriksen is undeniably a good buy..or at least met our expectations.
Chadli i think was ok/good on his day, and moved on when we got better so he wasn't a bad buy either.
Lamela is still with us and can do a job sometimes just never really established himself..so not terrible.
Rest I'm not sure how much money we lost on so can' tell if they were good buys or not.
Soldado unfortunately was an undenaible flop.

Kane has not asked to move but made it clear to the club that he want's ambition, this means he would have known of other clubs interest in him. I don't blame him, we want trophies , why shouldn't he?

Personally if I was chairman he goes over my dead body for two major reasons, 1) finding a great goal scorer is very hard and would cost most of the Kane money 2) it sends out a message we are also rans with no ambition.

Point number 2 is precisely what Kane is calling into question like many of us.

This is it. It’s not that we haven’t spent the money, but our big buys have been awful
Absolutely this.
N'Dombele is a crowd pleaser but at £54m I expect him to dominate games.
Davinson at £38m has not proven himself.
Sissoko is £31m and can't control the ball.
Lo Celso is still in my mind not proven at £43m. Nor Bergwijn at £27m.
Soldado was a flop at £27m, Lamela is hit and miss at the same price and Reguilion has started bright but has dropped off as the season has gone on again at £27m. The first player I would say has been a success in our top transfers is Son who we paid £27m for.

They have been bad and I don’t trust them to get it right now, someone is getting paid a lot of money to throw big money at big money players that simply don’t live up to much and it happens often! No wonder the likes of Kane feel frustrated. Sissoko at £31m is unbelievable, he is absolute dogshit when you watch him play, utter dogshit. A £31m player that can’t control a ball, pass very well, his shooting would injure people watching in the crowd. £31m for someone that points a lot. And how many f***ing appearances has he made for us? It’s the ultimate symbol of why people question our winning mentality when we reward dogshit like that with game time....it’s f***ing embarrassing.

I think for me the frustrating thing is that you see someone like Fernandez at United, someone we were close to getting if we pulled the trigger doing so well.

It says to me that someone/our structure at identifying players has been really poor. Son has been excellent but there has been so much money thrown at players that are average. You still get Lamela defenders, sure he isn’t completely crap, but he hasn’t lived up to much, not really the type of player to depend upon. Then look at some of the others it makes such bad reading. I just simply don’t have much confidence that it will be corrected as the track record is quite poor.

It’s no good saying things like well Chadli wasn’t so bad and then in the same breath say but we haven’t won anything. To win we are going to have to get results against some very good teams consistently, who have far more resources at present, to do that our business and identifying players is going to have to be excellent and presently it’s anything but that.

Hopefully with Kane’s pressure we change from pretenders to contenders, I think ENIC are running out of options regarding taking the piss, unless they’re complete dumbasses (which I doubt) then they will have to start prioritizing the team, otherwise with Kane gone and Levy looking for his bargain replacement he might hear the echo of the penny drop in his NFL stadium. Welcome aboard Harry, your words carry a little more weight than what many have been screaming on here for years...

If someone £150m+, he'll be gone. But unless ManCity, PSG or Barca want him desperately, no one will offer that money and he'll have to stay!

There's no way Chelsea would offer that money, and ManUtd can't afford to. Besides, I can't see Levy selling to Chelsea unless they pay a massive premium on top.

I’m sure Kane is putting pressure on them and they may well respond, but do I trust them not to buy another round of Soldado, Paulinho, Lamela, Chiriches, Capoue, Sanchez, Doherty then add in N'Dombele, Lo Celso and Bergwijn who have all hardly set the world alight.

Add up all that lot! Kane can say show ambition to the board, but if the ambition involves the identifying of players like that lot we are f***ed.

The problems run deep.

If Kane leaves and it's a big if, I lay the blame 100% with Mourinho

Last year Mourinho failed to maintain top 4 but we suffered badly with injuries (including Kane's) so he could be excused blame. However this season with a much improved squad Mourinho has achieved less with the team than the sum of the parts. Precisely the reverse of what a good manager should produce. The fact we have failed to achieve top 4 by such a small margin makes our failure even more frustrating. I believe Kane put his faith in Mourinho this season given his track record and has been let down by poor tactics and team selection as the season fell away steeply.

I can understand Kane's frustration but the cause was avoidable, should not have happened and had we been managed by any of the current top 5 managers would not have happened
