Barca, Real, Atletico, Juve and AC Milan never formally withdrew.

We are bad but they are badder.
Yeah, in large part is there isn't the same response in those countries, it's bad but not as extreme as here. Also, they have more to lose as they don't have a PL to fall back on.

@Drink!Drink! be a realist, if you are easily satisfied with a weak ”we are sorry” statement then you need to pull your head out of the sand.

Now we're on a roll we should take down Eurovision!

We come last every year but still auto-qualify. It's a fucking disgrace!

We should be fighting it out with San Marino, Vatican City and Liechtenstein by now!

Fuck, the greedy bastards even allowed Australia to join when everyone know's they're from North America. :banghead:

How incredibly naive and gullible are some of you lapping up Arsenal's apology ? It doesn't even matter if Levy said sorry would it because we know he's not sorry, he did it for a reason and if the opportunity presents itself he'd probably do it again.

Don't be taken into social Media F.C's pandering to the fans becsus if they were remotely remorseful they wouldn't have fucking did it in the first place.
20:00 Football fans come together to protest ESL
22:00 Tribalism over club statements.

Shameful weasel words from Levy. Where is the apology? His statement had no words of true regret or apology. He was part of a dirty plot to steal the game and turn it into a cartel. Not a single word of contrition
I want him out of our club even more name

Like it isn’t now? Get real.

Only thing that would make a meaningful change was this level of anger and action in 1992. I think its all too late

You want staff, coaches, players and fans - including you - to be punished for the behaviour of one or two execs at each club?
I'm still some way back in the thread, so apologies for bringing up an old post, but there is something about this. Not addressed directly at you @freeeki just using this as a jumping off point.

This may not be be the most popular opinion, so my apologies if I upset anyone, but I think we should be punished. Bear with me as I explain:

As supporters, and I said it earlier, we have sleepwalked into what has happened over the last few days. We've been compliant, and simply gone along with what the monetisation of football has done to us.

Maybe, if we were punished, if we as supporters have to suffer the pain, even though we don't deserve it and wouldn't have acted the way the club has, it will make us more vigilant in the future, more involved with what is actually happening with our club. Maybe we'll be more willing to make our voices heard, and start to bring the game back to where it belongs - with us.

I know, maybe I'm being optimistic, a bit masochistic, but I've felt for a long time that as supporters we've needed to be more active and not just go along with what the rich owners choose to do. Look what fan power has achieved in just two / three days. Look at the noise we made. We do still have some power. A little sting now may wake us up to the fact that we some power still....?

They'll be still be croaking "solidarity payments!" at their deathbeds long after their minds have succumb to entropy.

It clearly wasn't today. But I genuinely do believe that football will never be the same and there is potential for good to come out of this.

Looking at this thread at points, makes me realise how there is an epidemic of self-defeatist logic and how it makes sense that workers rights have gone down the shitter, because a lot of this mentality just inevitably leads to being rolled over. Organised collective action by interested parties, in the case of football I think it was more than the fans that helped this reversal, can work and does work. Will it always win out? Fuck no. But you need tension, you need opposition because without it all that happens is you get rolled over time after time as things get worse and worse.

It's never too late to start because there are still things to fight for, that can be changed. Would it be better if there was effective competition in 1992? Yes. But these things are not as inevitable as the perception is, and whatever has convinced people of that is great for those who wish to extract as much money as possible. In fact, it makes fans hardly blameless when shit like this does happen.

Everyone realizes that UEFA dramatically increased the amount of money paid out to clubs, there are rumors that they enticed English teams to leave the Super League with capital investment dollars and they are proposing an increase in the amount of teams starting in 2024 which is likely to pave the way for the top 6 of the Premier League to qualify? The clubs got basically everything they wanted while taking a PR hit.

We are a fucking embarrassment. FUCK OFF LEVY AND I MEAN THAT WITH A PASSION. We have to protest guys enough is enough now that statement says it all.

compare ours to arsenals

As a result of listening to you and the wider football community over recent days we are withdrawing from the proposed Super League. We made a mistake, and we apologise for it.

Maybe calm down a bit, spurs were offered huge money to sign up, which would pay for the stadium in a few years and financially secure the club.

Money which we will not (I guess) be getting from the champions league for a long while. Yes it wasn't right, but he was looking after the best interests of the club, which is, after all, his job.

With this money we would maybe be able to sign some big names, keep our stars and secure our future.

The pandemic and the new stadium costs could cripple us. I repeat, like the furlonging of staff, or the bank of England loan, he hasn't covered himself in glory and he deserves criticism.

However it is understandable why he has chosen to do this, he hasn't apologised (I imagine) because he believed that it was the best for Tottenham Hotspur FC.

The same fans will be calling for his head in the summer when we are not signing anyone.

I don't agree with what he has done but it doesn't mean we have to get the pitch forks out.

This guy refers to a massive loan from UEFA - in the article itself it says "But it's not the only motive. Mundo Deportivo has learned that UEFA has played a fundamental role in that decision. Not because of the threats, but because he has offered a significant sum of money to the 'big six' for leaving the Super League"
