I think the Allí vs Lamela debate is a bit pointless, to be honest.
I don't think it's Lamela keeping Dele out of the team, it's Bergwijn and I think that's on merit.

In fact, it could actually be said that Dele is keeping Dele out of the team.

I guess the point being made here is that regardless which way you lean whos better of the two, both have been poor last 18 months, but deles been thrown on the scrap heap and lamela is being called off the bench in the biggest of games.

And down a goal we surely had better options to use than lamela, dele potentially being one of those if was given half a look in.

If Romano says it, its pretty much true.
I don;t really read Twitter but the last message I saw was we would loan him out if we found a replacement.

No blame on Levy. As he is usually critcised for thinking money first ahead of playing personnel it seems strange to criticise him for turning down the offer to get a high earnet not playing off our books especially when the info doesn't even name him.

I agree with the point that Lamela wouldn't have been the sub I'd have made, I would've gone for Vini.
As for why Lamela is often called of the bench is because when he comes on, he can often change games with his aggressive pressing and general winding the opposition up. He may be limited but what he does, he does well.

I sometimes wish Dele still had that fire in his belly, as he used to be a proper wind-up merchant but since that aggression went, his game seems to have suffered.

Really poor management IMO by Levy to keep a player around whos stock is plummeting esch coming month, never plays and is unhappy.

Is it?

Values are pretty low right now because no one is buying. He's still got a few years left on his contract so I'd say his value is at the lowest it's likely to be, in terms of what I expect clubs will 'want' to pay.

If crowds come back in then clubs might start spending the kind of money that we value him at.

We don't yet know if that's been turned down though, or if it is, what the reasons may be.
Probably just posturing- like conte saying Eriksen isn’t leaving.
If the moneys right, and a replacement can be found, it could easily still happen.

Sky are going to ramp up their “rumours” and turn this into their big story to run all day tomorrow ....

One or two had a go when I suggested Dele will not leave under Jose because he will outlast Jose... You don't let someone like Dele go... Unless you're certain that the manager you're with youre going to stick through with him.

Ostracising Dele and one or two others won't help things.

Yeah, I was one of them.

Who knew it might not be the case? Clearly I didn't.

You let him go when he isn't better player than Ndombele or Lo Celso, and you can use money from him for top CB.
I bet he will leave club next summer despite who will manager be(Mourinho won't use him, Nagelsmann wouldn't use him, Hasenhuttl wouldn't use him)

This is whats wrong, people are backing Dele who has won fuck all over Mourinho who has won more trophies than the club has in its entire history.

I know youve apologised and appreciate it although there was no need to. We are all in it for Spurs thats for sure.

I back Dele though over someone who has been here for a year. Having said that, I think context is needed. If Dele went ahead to the papers and slated Jose or he threw a tantrum at Jose in front of the fans - then I wouldnt back him. Im backing the talent Dele has and know he has and what he has shown. Has he shown it all too recently? nope but its there it just needs someone to bring it back out of him.

I dont agree with slating a player for example because he did a flick two thirds down the pitch. How are players supposed to enjoy their football and play their football if they feel they will be dropped at the first sign of a mistake.

Just to note and it is for the other thread, whilst ive not backed Jose, in the Jose thread ive reiterated that I dont think he should go but he needs to change and ill give him time to change. Today and against Liverpool - i just lost it with him - we are Tottenham, and whilst I dont expect us to win every game, I expect us to have more than a handful of attempts and try to win the game than defend a 1-0 loss.

I like GLC but i mean how can we sit here and say GLC is a better player when he has been here a year and a half and has been hampered with injuries?

You may well be right though that those managers will come in and not use Dele. I dont know but id be more comfortable with them at the helm making that decision than Jose whose shelf life doesnt appear to be more than a year and a half at the helm here..

Think this deal is an interesting snapshot into Levy's thinking of Jose as a whole. Surely if he fully trusted Jose he would let Dele go on loan as he's not going to use him thats clear. But Levy's got to be thinking that Dele might outlast Jose at this point.
