can this thread remain open for me to pop in and moan between 6-8pm?

given there’s no game, I’ll probably moan about the missus or the kids.

Yep this is issue. It's all well and good getting a few days off now, but when you have to play 3 PL games and an EL semi over 9 days down the road it's not as good...

You can guarantee the rearranged game will be at a bad time for us. It’s inevitable.

Purely looking at it from a selfish, inconsiderate point of view, I'm just gutted it's off because I like to get past disappointing results as quickly as possible, and I really thought we'd win tonight, even if we weren't entertaining or scoring loads.

Thinking sensibly, it's the right decision but a disgrace the FA take an age to decide and announce.

Of course it will. If we don't get knocked out of EL it will be hard to schedule it. The real issue will be if this happen a few times more this season. Gonna be a mess.

Another from the ESPN thread - imagine throwing a two-week circuit breaker in as well. Virtually impossible, particularly for us, to play all those games within a sensible, fair schedule.

(Although appreciate right now there are more important things than the football)

Huge plus IMO.

Makes it so that we don't have to play Leeds (who run more than anyone else) on a day less rest with a squad that looks knackered and is in poor form...also makes rotating for the Brentford semifinal a lot easier...and if there is a game I'm ok with playing on shorter rest later in the season, it's one against a promoted side like Fulham. Don't forget we play Marine next weekend (which is basically another rest for most of the squad/regulars), which means this midweek postponement/Leeds/Brentford/Marine run is about as much rest as our players have had outside the international break time periods. We've played the most games by far with the EL qualifying/groups, league, and our EFL Cup run.

Some of these players absolutely needed a break. Hopefully we make the most of it.

It’s not good news imo, it’s just kicking the can further down the road. Would much rather play a game today/vs Leeds with the players tired rather than later in the season when we could potentially be playing a EL quarter/semi final league cup final and 2 important league matches in a week ie Sunday Tuesday Thursday Sunday

Postponing is the right decision. You have to be cautious. But this was inevitable because you’re basically asking thousands of people to abide by the rules. All it takes is a few idiots or a lapse in judgment and the whole thing falls down.

Who has the say regarding a circuit breaker ? Perhaps the Government will tell the FA/PL they have to do it and the decision will not therefore be for the FA/PL.

In rugby they just award a win to the club that can field a team and the match is cancelled.

As this is an exceptional season (lives and people’s health are at stake) -

- The PL should have a 2 week break (longer if the situation doesn’t improve) and extend the PL season until a later date

- Postpone the Euros until 2022

- Postpone the World Cup until 2023

I suspect their will be a 2 week break enforced for all football in England by the weekend

No point in my mind. Once you break, will be harder to start again, with cases on the rise. If it stops, I fear it will be for something like 8 weeks

Don’t forget to kick the cat (the stuffed one, I don’t want to piss off the animal activists over here :cautious: ).

That is obviously ridiculous and untenable to me. whether we progress that far in cups or not, the fact that only one cancellation could cause utter chaos like this is very short sighted. What happens if Leeds have an outbreak as well? Or the (very real) possibility that an outbreak happened on game day itself, infecting two squads instead of one?

The PL is hanging by a thread here.
