On the plus side, given how Liverpool are giving it big time, says a lot about how much of a threat they think we are. They know they just beat their closest rivals.

I don't think we can call foul play about their goals tbh. If we had one disallowed for that I'd be fuming.

Yup. Agree. Text book “soft” if given

Dier was picking up Firminio, though

Still, clever play by Henderson to get away with a (subtle) block - that’s why some people are pro...

We must move on and put this behind us, there is a long way to go. We need to look at our game plan and tinker it a little as its becoming obvious. We have come a long way and there's more to come im sure. We would've all taken 2nd 3 points off top and Arsenal fighting relegation at start of season.

Woke up and the first thing i think about is Kane's header. Such a huge chance and he score that 9/10 times.

Gonna take a few days to get over this one and hopefully we take thw frustration out on Leicester.

It’s hard to take. That was only the second time in 9 games we had a higher xG than our opponent and we lose. To concede in the last minute from a header harder than the one Kane missed is gutting.

Draw was fair but could have gone either way but then you could say the same about the City game and we won that one. Fine margins at this level.

But to all those Liverpool fans saying 2 shots on goals, 25% possession as a justification for them being much better, I revert you to the Champions League final stats.

This is clearly cheating.

Yeah, that's a foul.

It's not that Henderson's nudge is a heavy shove, it's the fact that it distracts Dier at the exact moment that Firmino starts his run.

This gives Firmino that 2ft head start on Dier, as he speeds toward the 6 yard box.

So Dier has to make a decision; does he stand up and chase Firmino, and probably not catch him, or does he signal to the officials that he's been fouled, by going down.

Tbh I think he made the right decision. If he had have chased after Firmino, he wouldn't have caught him, Firmino would have scored and no one would be talking about the foul on Dier. We'd just be saying that Dier lost his man.

Small margins at the elite level, so it's deeply frustrating that VAR didn't pick it up.

The gloating by Liverpool fans and players is pretty unbearable atm. I would love for us to smash them in 7 games time and not even celebrate and just move on to the next game.

It's always the same old f*cking story up there.
As much as we had a clear plan up there you have to ask yourselves, why do so many teams go up there and allow the play to be condensed in their own last 18 yard box. It's a suicidal tactic. Opposition managers and players against Liverpool need to take a bloody good look at themselves and ask themselves the following question :
How many times has it ever worked in keeping that f*cking team out in the last 5 mins of games especially at Anfield when you are drawing with them in the last 3 and a half years ? Answer, almost never, only Burnley have managed it. Commentators taunt us we that because they all know what's going to bloody happen and so do we. That ball is like a f*cking magnet to the back of the net to away teams.

Teams should literally do all they can to try to condense the ball away from the last third of their own goal by hook or by crook, because if the fail to do that Liverpool either get a soft penalty they get or a lucky knock down, or someone loses concentration,or they get away with some shithousery as Henderson did last night and they pounce. It's infuriating.

That's not Firmino who makes the run, it's Williams. Firmino is being picked up by Toby (or Kane?).

I agree it's a scummy move by Henderson, but I don't think it directly impacts the goal.

In this context, I'm pretty sure that I saw something last night that we suspected was becoming part of their game plan. When Salah was held up by one of our defenders on the edge of our box, he simply lofted the ball at close range into the blocking player. It was neither a shot nor an attempted pass, but its purpose was clearly to attempt to play the ball at the defender's arm to claim a penalty. By good discipline and good fortune, the defender managed to avoid it striking his arm. Did anyone else see it?

Lol, some of the posts I'm reading this morning are both pathetic and yet expected.

When we laugh at the state of other teams forum threads, just take a look here to see as a fan base were no different.

We narrowly lost for the first time in 12 games to the reigning champions(at their place), in a game that their own captain said was their best performance of the season.

On another day with better finishing it possibly goes the other way imo as the chances we created were better overall than Pools.

Jeez some of you really need to get a grip.

We have now played all the supposed pre season title challengers and sit 3 points behind the leaders.

We are in a very good spot right now, and are still not the finished article.

We finished miles behind this lot last year, get some perspective for the love of God.

Overall this season so far we have probably exceeded expectations in the league, we are doing well with what we have available but I think we will fall short of actually winning it.
Jose still needs a few more players in to mount a serious challenge hopefully next year, if we get CL this time around I would be pleased with to that.

Yeah I agree, we may well fall short for the league. I think we may well get a pot of some description though which along with CL qualification I'd snap up all day long.

Yeah I actually thought we played brilliantly yesterday and the game plan worked 99.9% how it was supposed to, that 0.01% is the bit of luck for the first goal and Stevie narrowly missing.

Jose has turned us into a top team and I think we'll be in the top 3 which is much better than most of us would have hoped for at the start of the season!
