Jose let his emotions get the better of his head at ht. A team with that many changes are going to take time to settle, give them at least an hour before making changes. All he’s done now is piss off a load of players and then made some of our rested players play 45 mins with still no reward. This will be a big test for the squad harmony after today. Let’s not take anything away from Antwerp either, they were fantastic.

Winks is not good enough and needs to go. Who
Does he think he is taking that shot on when he hasn’t scored a goal since forever! On top of that he nearly gifted a second, made no key passes. What is it that he actually offers?

I don't know if I can defend Sanchez any longer. That was his worst performance of the season for me, really really poor. I can't see Rodon or Tanganga being worse at the moment.

Unless he gets his act together he's very quickly slipping into the list of players we need to look to move on.

Hargreaves said that when Dele was getting it he was stopping the ball dead a lot of the time, a common problem, just killing any momentum.

Can anyone explain why we have such an aversion to the pass and move method of playing football?

We have no attacking structure or plan.Mourinho likes to try and hit on the counter, and relies on Kane and Son being world class. No ideas of what to do if that isn’t possible

its crap.

I'm not usually one to worry over much about a single performance - especially in Europa where disjointed performances are so common.

But I'm a bit worried about this. I think it's because Jose made such a statement at half-time and yet... Nothing. We didn't look any better really. Hojberg made us a little stiffer in midfield but we still coughed up chances without ever really looking like scoring.

So... how does that play mentally. If Jose was "making a point" - what point has been made now? Psychologically?

Hopefully the dressing room is still good and everyone feels a shared responsibility but...

Can excuse a poor performance when it's a group game etc... But hope it's not more than that.

Antwerp pretty much went man-to-man defensively. They were a much stronger and fitter team. If we do not learn how to move off the ball in these games then plenty of physical sides will have good days against us. This could have been Burnley on Monday but for one moment of brilliance.

Lamela is so fucking frustrating, plenty of time to release the ball & he always fails to do so
Like the time tonight when he released the ball with his first touch three times in row in a single passage of play...while multiple other players dwelled on the ball...resulting in the attack fizzling out.

Sometimes he is frustrating, but tonight he was far from the worst culprit for taking too long to release the ball. Maybe you looked away when Bergwijn and Aurier had the ball. :p

Just baffling that Lo Celso gets taken off, unless it was down to keeping him fresh. Without Ndombele there is no creativity in the middle.

I think I was being optimistic thinking Bale would need a month to get back in form.

It wasn’t who he brought on, it was who he took off.

Unless Lo Celso was injured, there’s absolutely no way he should’ve been taken off along with Dele. It left us with Lamela playing behind the striker who we all know has a tendency to hold
the ball for too long. That’s exactly what happened on a number of occasions.

He also took off Vinicius for fuck knows what reason. He was actually winning the ball in the opposition half then having nobody running onto it because Bale and Bergwijn were lazy and made no runs whatsoever. We should’ve finished the game with Vinicius and Kane on the pitch. Not one or the other.
Ndombele needed rest and GLC is coming back from an injury. Dele was so bad it would have been better to not have another midfielder. Our options were pretty limited once Jose decided to take GLC off. I won't disagree with a manager easing a player back in after an injury, especially a player like GLC who seems to be injured often.

We lost and Antwerp deserved their win, a very solid defense that was too strong to break. I agree with Jose's subs but as a whole, we did not play to our expectations. Maybe, a good thing for the players to come down back to earth and dig in to win future games.

It does seem that his development has stalled. Has all the physical skills but positioning and concentration still not up to standard.

Why do our players look so disinterested in this competition every single time we’re in it (stretching back to early 00s even). It’s so unprofessional.

Lamela is good for seeing out a match but he's just incapable of picking a pass. So many opportunities to play someone in or pass the ball quicker. So infuriating!
You don't say. The first half were misplaced final third passes galore.

Antwerp deserved it, only saw snippets of the game but thought Winks and Davies didn't have the greatest games. Although saying that the bits I saw nobody covered themselves in glory at all. One to write off and go for the jugular against Brighton.

Well done Antwerp they worked hard and deserved the win!
