We have a game in 48 hours, played a little over 48 hours ago. Surely you can see why we're sitting back without a striker?

More than half that team didn't play 48 hours ago and won't play 48 hours from now. It's a lame excuse.

This system can only mean we want to hold the scoreline even for 70 minutes and then storm it with Kane and Lucas.

Because this lot wont score in that system if we would play 3 hours

Well we've been understandably poor with a completely new formation, loads of squads players or newbies and no striker. That said Chelsea look soft as fuck and I reckon we could easily turn them over still.
Dont blame formations as we've been clueless for the last 10 months irrespective of starting X1

It's possible Coco holds on to the ball because he has little or no faith in Stevie B or Gedson as they have shown nothing tonight

Nah. There’s a lot to like about Lamela, but he’s done the same thing since his first appearance no matter who he plays with and ain’t going to change now.

If Lamela knew when to release the ball he would be one of the best players in the world.

Unfortunately he does'nt and he is'nt.

I will be very fucked off if Mourinho allows Lampard get the better of us for the 3rd game in a row.

It's a horrible watch but we got behind their defence twice and they haven't. They havent caused any threat to us. It was a great strike which came from an error

Take out a Sunday/Thursday game and that intensity would be upped I'm sure. No crowd doesn't help that either.
There’s enough lads on the pitch who have a bit more in the tank at the moment and need to grab a chance. Reggie and Lamela are going for it but alone they look like headless chickens.

Chelsea, for all their possession have hardly hurt us. Unfortunately, Reguilon made an error in being over eager to make up for losing the ball.

We were always going to sit deep early in the game and look to gradually grow into it.

Remember this is a starting 11 who haven't really had time together, not only that but they are playing with Lamela and Bergwijn. as the focal point as we only have one CF in the squad.

Gedson and Sissoko aren't ball playing midfielders which means it's harder to get a foot hold of the game. Their strength is driving forward with the ball.

I'd rather Kane didn't come on but may be necessary to at least allow us to keep the ball better.

I thought last 10-15 mins we were growing into the game and if Lamela could have released it earlier on a number of occasions we may have had more opportunities.

Agree, it doesn't help having a 3 man midfield with only one of them able to pass and control the game. Chelsea have two men in midfield but both comfortable on the ball.

Still, I think the plan is keep it tight and bring Kane and Lucas on around the 60/70 minute mark.

We also haven't had any time to formulate a proper plan other than sit back and try to counter when we can? I don't see any issue here. Oh and I'd say we have had as good chances as they have.

Its an entirely understandable performance, we are playing a shadow team with no coherence with a sprinkling of players preserving energy for the next game. It is what it is.

Honestly if i was a chelsea fan i would be disappointed they have gone for the throat. As long as its close and we have a couple of big guns on the bench we have a chance to nick it.

We all know that Kane is going to have to come on to give us a focal point up top.

Inevitably it will end with him pulling his hammy and being out for 3 months and us doing a deadline signing of Troy Deeney.

I do not want to see Harry Kane come on tonight at all, if we're winning we don't need him on and if we're losing it'll all be too desperate and Chelsea will go in studs up. Thursday's was always the big game this week.
