As much as I like the idea of this going forward, surely leaves the centre backs too exposed. The idea of a 3 at the back appeals to me, but I don’t thinks jose would be particularly interested in that.

That side is undeniably the most talented and exciting 11 we could put out but we would get overrun in midfield.
If you play two attacking full backs and a front three then you need at least two of the midfield three to sit in and fill vacated caps . Imo it will be Hojberg, Lo Celso and either sissoko or Winks.

Excited about getting a left back that hopefully can contribute going forward. I think Davies is useful but absolutely pointless going forward. Will be good to have a bit of pace there also.

The buyback is unfortunate, but if this deal and Bale take us to the next level we’ll be able to afford a permanent replacement if/when RM exercise it. Hopefully a necessary evil on the way to the top...
I don’t think it’s as big a deal as some are making it out to be. The buyback is for €40mil that lasts for 2 years according to reports. Marcelo is still there, they have Ferland Mendy who’s excellent and a number of other prospects. So Reguilon is going to have to absolutely smash it and develop into a world class player for it to be worth activating for them. Because they won’t pay that for him to sit on the bench again. And if he does develop like that, well hey, we’ll have had a shit hot left back for a couple seasons. I didn’t see too many Dortmund fans complaining about Hakimi’s time there despite it being a similar-ish situation.

We need to stop getting so hung up on what the buy back clause may or may not be. Lets just hope that we get the player and hope he settles fast. As ITK have previously said "Levy wont fatten the cow". So trust him on the deal and enjoy the player.

I’m sure this has already been posted in the thread somewhere, but my god, a kid who plays in Gareth Bale’s original position, who idolised Gareth Bale, signing for the club where Gareth Bale became a superstar, alongside... Gareth Bale.

You couldn’t write it.

We obviously want the best for all of our signings, but there just seems to be some sort of epic cosmic foreshadowing here. We must protect Sergio Reguilon at all costs.

Does anyone remember back in the Redknapp days where we always played a 4-4-2 with one creative mid playing out wide and cutting in while the fullback provided width, while the other side had two true wide players (ie. Lennon/Walker and Kranjcar/BAE)...was some of the most thrilling and effective football we've played in the last 20 years.

Feel like with Reguilon and Doherty we could now play something similar on either flank...

Son + Kane up top...
Reguilon + Bale or Doherty + Bergwijn as the true width side...
Reguilon + Dele or Doherty + GLC/Lamela as the unconventional side with the tucked in playmaker.

Just thinking out loud, but would be fun to see considering the players we have right now are better than what he had back then, but fit the profiles similarly. All we are missing is a Modric/Dembele type that can run the show in CM. Maybe Lo Celso can be that alongside PEH.

That's my favourite Spurs team ever but there's a reason we were still scrapping for 4th despite having such a talented team, and a big part of that was Harry's tactics.

It's easy to look back on that era with (Danny) rose tinted spectacles as we were so much fun to watch, but we were also very open and I can count the number of games we controlled from start to finish on one hand. It was always a rollercoaster and we were very often dominated in midfield, hence that old school style of 4-4-2 is less popular these days.

We were a far far more complete team at the peak of Poch compared to the Redknapp era.
