This is why we need to keep Toby.

More importantly, throughout the dispute with the club he was professional and never gave nothing but his best on the pitch.

Give him the contract Daniel.

Unlike some dane whos absolutely disrespectful. Disgusting

No. But if he does offer a contract, I hope Daniel reneges at the at the last minute just like Toby did when Poch stuck his neck out for him. Toby's been professional, yes but that does not mean he should remain at the club. He should have left last summer after it happened.

Wish we could get a real link and not Ricky Sacks... Guy's below whatever the lowest tier is.
He just aggregates, this is from 'La Dernière Heure'...and I've never heard of him/her/it.
Make of that what you will.

Edit: Its a Belgian newspaper.
Here is a terrible translation of the article:

The arrival of José Mourinho rebats the cards around the future of the Devil.
The words of José Mourinho have not been slow to find their target.

When, during his presentation, the Portuguese evoked "players he wanted to sign but could not have had", the formula concerned including Toby Alderweireld. That the manager could not recruit to Chelsea and even less to Manchester United because of the conflict with Ed Woodward.

Being finally led by the Special One is in any case likely to change the position of the Antwerp. Like Christian Eriksen and Jan Vertonghen, the defender arrives at the end of the contract in June.

Since the failure of the renewal of his contract for financial reasons, the President Daniel Levy refusing to intercede to his demands after a long serial where the Devil hoped to reach 110,000 euros per week, relations between the state- Major Londoners and the player's entourage are rather cool. They culminated in the automatic lifting of this one-year option, which last summer was accompanied by a release clause of 28 million which was finally not activated at the end of the transfer window.

Sensitive to the reconstruction project of Jose Mourinho in which he should take a central role given the speech held by the technician to Levy, the defender is now ready to start new negotiations. While knowing himself in a strong position since January 1st, he will be free to engage in the club of his choice.

Must admit I'm not as confident in Alder as I was even last season, feel he's been at fault for a fair few goals. I think if Sanchez was making similar errors then they'd be extremely critical, obviously Alder has some credit in the bank but as I say I'm not as confident in Alder this season.

I think we can upgrade, if we do the scouting properly for once.

I reckon he will sign a new deal now, It'll look good for Spurs PR but I think the reason Alder is now willing to sign is not only was there little interest in the summer but also got a 2nd kid on the way and his first was fairly recent so they probably want a settled base. I'm just concerned he's going through the motions. I'm of the opinion that it might not be the best idea to keep both the ageing Belgians if we're keeping Sanchez and Foyth and want to upgrade as you say. Personally I'd like to see a CB list of:

Sanchez
Ruben Dias/One of the Leipzig CB's
Foyth
Vert

Now if we decide that Foyth is going to be a RB going forward that does change things for me and I'd be happy to keep both as that'd be a fantastic quartet (I avoided fantastic four).

Personally I would replace TA and try to extend JV for at least 1 more year (he might not last much longer). We need to get rid of one of the Belgians but we also need some form of experience for certain situations.

Any new CB should complement Sanchez, we paid big money for him and he certainly seems to get better with more game time (who would have thought).

And as we are having this disucssion:

Alasdair Gold

Signing up Toby Alderweireld to a new deal, given his and Mourinho's mutual affection, would seem to be the best decision for both parties. Bigger wages for the player and saves the club money they'd only spend in trying to bring in a replacement.

Fingers crossed AG is wrong about saving money we'd spend on a replacement.

I think we’re really missing a dominant CB like VVD. Even under Poch when things were good I felt our defensive weakness was crosses into the box and set pieces.

I'd replace Jan and keep Toby (if possible) personally but yes, a long-term partner for Sanchez will be needed in the next few years regardless. I don't think that's Foyth.

I don't think he deserves a payrise at this point.

Not that I put any value in what AG says.

Time will tell. We can only trust Jose and Levy.

What's the rationale for needing to get rid of one Belgian? I see it differently, I think we need to keep at least one, but most preferably two.
