The situation Eriksen now finds himself in reminds me of that old, well known Spanish proverb: do not put your testicles in the mouth of the dog until the moon shines on the fishes

Just come back from the kitchen placing my testicles in the mouth of my dog. Turns out the neighbours fucking hate it.

I miss the near post header that we did so well from in Poch's first season

Its difficult to understand this and the same goes for Lloris's kick outs (though he is getting a bit better)
Eriksen is super talented but there is something lacking there

Isn't that often the routine we go for? A lot of people complain about corners falling short but a lot of the time it's intentional. Those runs towards the front post are probably our most dangerous weapon from corners when we get it right. I do think people expect too much from corners when the success rate scoring from corners is typically low anyway. It's always going to be difficult to score with so many back to defend. I actually think it's better to pass the ball back and try and draw defenders out than a direct cross from a croner.

Holy hell, someone gets it.

If people truly don’t believe he could just launch them in the middle of the bunch if that’s what Poch wanted... I’m not sure what to tell you.

Oh ffs, the whole corner shite again. Yes, his corners can be underwhelming a lot of the time, but making such a big deal of it considering his clear and obvious contributions to our team is just absurd.

The statistics actually back this up fwiw, yes it's the routine we go for but that doesn't mean he can't improve his delivery because we're not the only team that has that routine and yet he still has the lowest %, I just feel like it's a poor excuse to say well that's the routine so it's acceptable to hit the first man more often than not.

I mean why wouldn't we discuss an area in which he can improve? just because he's a great player doesn't mean you can negate any weaknesses. I'd understand your sentiment if people were writing him off overall but I don't feel like that's the overall tone.

Why all the talk about his corners and not his direct free kicks? Wasn’t the one vs Éverton the first one scored since his 2 vs Swansea over 2 years ago? (Yeah yeah and the one vs Juve) Surely that’s the set piece to get him off of first.

There was literally a post in the “unpopular opinions” thread that stated he wasn’t world class cause he can’t beat the first man on a corner.

Glad I read up on this thread after today’s ITK. Really enjoyed reading through 20000 posts about corners!

Direct free-kicks are becoming increasingly useless at the top level - I think pretty much every PL team scores 0-2 a season now. If you set up the wall and goalie correctly, and the goalie doesn't make a significant error, the execution needs to be virtually perfect to score. It's getting to the stage where we should increasingly consider a pass or cross from positions you'd traditionally shoot from, only taking a direct kick in the absolute best circumstances. (Or the VAR plan - aim to hit the arm of somebody in the wall and get a stupid penalty!)

So that's 1 post and they even quite rightly knew that it belonged in the unpopular opinion thread:LOL:, they probably knew how ridiculous a sentiment that was even if they believed it. I said in my post the overall tone also, I think this forum suffers a lot from people seeing 1 post which goes over the top with a criticism and then chucks everybody in with that sentiment even though their criticism was far more reasonable and not at the extreme end.

I do think they can be potent but just outside the area it's difficult to score and a great deal of time the ball goes into the wall or skyed over
30 :yards out a better chance

Tottenham renew efforts to keep Christian Eriksen at the club by offering the Dane improved £200,000 a week contract amid Real Madrid links
  • Tottenham have offered Christian Eriksen an improved £200,000-a-week deal
  • The club have so far failed to convince Eriksen to pen a new contract
  • He earns in the region of £80,000 a week but has entered final year of his deal
  • The Danish playmaker has been linked with Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid
Tottenham have renewed their efforts to persuade Christian Eriksen to sign a new contract worth more than double his current £4million salary.

The club have so far failed to convince Eriksen, who has entered the final 12 months of his deal, to pen a new contract.

He earns in the region of £80,000 a week — but Spurs have already offered to double his money with a deal worth around £160,000 a week.

Tottenham’s latest attempts could push Eriksen’s wage closer to £200,000 a week.

However, Eriksen’s advisers have informed Tottenham officials that the 27-year-old’s next contract will not be motivated by money.

Real Madrid and Barcelona have expressed interest in the Dane.

Expected this to hit the press after the rumours this morning. Article doesn't sound overly positive but hoping it's a bit behind the Goats info.

Agreed and rather than it being Eriksen’s fault isn’t it time we found a better way to take advantage of a corner?
